Bugeaters1 Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Not too bad after the first half. Gave up to many "easy" baskets though. I can live with Stewart making those plays, she's just that good. Don't neccessarily like leaving her standing under the hoop though. I like the fight I thought the ref wasn't going to call a charge on UCONN, then the girl is like what how was that a foul. Quote
Tinpanalley Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 2 for 11 on three point shooting. Quote
Tinpanalley Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Third foul on Blackburn after two quick rebounds. Quote
huskerchode Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 And missing a ton of shots. Maybe Emily Wood can knock down a 3? Theriot should be shooting more. Quote
jayschool Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Seriously, is anyone going to come within 20 of this team? Quote
twister31 Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 We miss way too many easy shots. Quote
hoop_head Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Proud of this team for not quitting. There have been lapses but they fight. Not shooting well and that doesn't help either. Quote
Silverbacked1 Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 I think we miss those shots because of the foot steps that we hear. Played a bit scared today. Not bad just a bit. Could see who was ready for this level, Rachel T. and Rameo didn't look scared. Red Don 1 Quote

hoop_head Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Also wondering if UCONN ever miss shots. I don't know what their percentage is, but it's high. Quote
huskerchode Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 They are shooting just under 57% compared to our 33%. Quote
Bugeaters1 Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Well they didn't lose by 50 like OSU did. Quote
whoopdeedoo Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 think uconn could win nc without even trying. bring'em home and get ready for the next one. GBR!!! Bugeaters1 1 Quote
huskerchode Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Theriot played well. Romeo was pretty good but I wish her shots would have fallen better. Way too many dumb turnovers. I was worried about that going into this but I expected we would shoot a bit better to help offset some of those turnovers. Didn't happen. Quote
HB Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 Theriot looked like she belonged out there. She is a great player. Quote
Cazzie22 Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 No shame in loss to UConn. They have tremendous talent and play the game very well. Hope it is a good learning experience and get ready for NC State on Thursday. Quote

Something for our young team to learn from and aspire to! Connie Yori did not give any post-game interview so I'm sure she is busy 'bucking-up' the team after this loss. Husker Ladies are a young, promising Team; And full of Pride. They'll come through this just fine - and come out ready to play against NC State on the 3rd. I expect to see the Husker Ladies in the NCAA Tournament Quote

Could see who was ready for this level, Rachel T. and Rameo didn't look scared. UConn keyed their best defensive player on Theriot, and Stewart on Jess. Romeo was excellent. And maybe surprisingly, Kalenta wasn't intimidated at all. But some of us were. And we looked a step slow several times. When we stayed with them, then they gave the ball to Stewart like clock work...just gave her the green light to go shoot, and that's all there was to the game. Horrible passing and turnovers, maybe the most disappointing thing about it. We're too good to let that happen so frequently. Got to give credit to the UConn defense...they pretty much shut us down after the first half. Maybe it was good experience, not sure. It can go either way....we learn and improve drastically, or let our sensitive feelings be hurt. I doubt Connie will let that happen. But it was exposed, how young we are. We needed to have played better teams before UConn.....but we didn't to get experience it....tough choices.....not enough time. Did you see Stewart's arms, her hands were almost down to her knees. I thought that call late where Jess was called for a charge was wrong. Stewart was moving and stepped in front of Jess...looked like a foul, but ref's weren't going to call that on the queen of UConn. We'll see how we come forward after this. Use it as the right way and it can inspire us to get better fast. If the girls are a little angry...maybe good things are in store for us. Quote

huskerchode Posted November 28, 2015 Report Posted November 28, 2015 I think you're right about Kalenta not being intimidated. And I thought Havers did some good things, too. Our conditioning isn't where it needs to be yet. Hopefully we shoot better the rest of the season. I think this was a good game to have for our younger players, for everyone really, because they will only get better as we go along. I'm all for scheduling UConn every year, and even throw in a Tennessee or Stanford here or there. Was Washington suited up for this game? Quote
