Navin R. Johnson Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 Since he has been mentioned in a couple of other threads I'm starting one just for him. He is a 6' 8" center/power forward from Norfolk High. He has had a number of non-official visits and does not hold an offer (yet?) but he is definitely on their radar. Not sure if he has been given a star rating by any recruiting services but big guys with his skill set do not come around very often in this state so he is one to keep an eye on. hhcmatt and Red Don 2 Quote
Chuck Taylor Posted October 26, 2015 Report Posted October 26, 2015 A lot of people thought he was done growing, but apparently not so. Good skills, another summer on the AAU circuit and he'll get some offers. I doubt we'll offer for a while, if at all, but the Horizon teams will jump in. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 He also can make the choice of football if he so wishes. Seems a lot of teams love those 6'8" tight ends, especially if they have great hands. Quote

FredsSlacks Posted October 27, 2015 Report Posted October 27, 2015 hopefully the strom kid can walk-on. i don't see us offering when we can go get the top players in chicago instead. (watson, morrow, roby) Quote

(watson, morrow, roby) I really doubt you will see Strom walk on. He is too good and deserves to play with a scholarship at the D1 level. The difference is that he is a true post player and we have not been able to get the top big guys from Chicago or any where else to come here. We will have to wait and see how he develops, but I would hate to lose a good big man in our own backyard if he is good enough to play. Going out of state is not always the answer. Quote

That said, a 6'8" post player better be powerful and explosive if he is going to make it through the Big Ten. I think this kid is pretty good, but he appears to be a supplemental player at this point, not necessarily "the answer." Quote

uneblinstu Posted November 5, 2015 Report Posted November 5, 2015 I love that we're getting studs out of Chicago, but if Strom's good enough to play at this level (and I'm not claiming that he is), who cares where he's from? They're recruiting a kid out of North Dakota, too. If they can play, they can play. Quote

He's going to be a strong kid on the blocks. Probably a pretty good rebounder and has some skill around the rim. Doesn't have to be an all conference player, just solid. I think that's a possibility with this kid. Quote

They're recruiting a kid out of North Dakota, too. If they can play, they can play. Spot on, if we have a roster of 15 kids from Nebraska and win I will love it. If all 15 are from elsewhere and we win, I will love it. Red Rum and AuroranHusker 2 Quote
Chuck Taylor Posted March 3, 2016 Report Posted March 3, 2016 A lot of people thought he was done growing, but apparently not so. Good skills, another summer on the AAU circuit and he'll get some offers. I doubt we'll offer for a while, if at all, but the Horizon teams will jump in. OK, quoting yourself is obnoxious. And quoting yourself when you said "Horizon" and meant Summit probably doesn't earn points either. But nevertheless, Strom is going to get plenty of offers like the one from South Dakota State. That's a good program, I'd expect maybe a Valley team to jump in too, maybe even Wyoming. Silverbacked1 and hhcmatt 2 Quote
