Norm Peterson Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 He has hardly any recruiting activity at all. Apparently one offer from LSU and just interest from just a few other schools. But ... Just watch the film and tell me if you think he might just be the best big man you've never heard of. He's now Rivals #143 player for 2016. 6'10" and 225#. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 3, 2015 Author Report Posted September 3, 2015 I think I heard we're looking for a rebounder and a rim protector. Hey, I just saw this. Perhaps I'm crazy. But he's a big dude. So, call him, maybe? Quote
KarlHessEatMy.... Posted September 3, 2015 Report Posted September 3, 2015 You should tweet this video to miles. Haha Quote

Norm Peterson Posted September 3, 2015 Author Report Posted September 3, 2015 He's a 2016 kid per Rivals. But, according to nbadraft.net, his DOB is only 8/15/98. That means he just turned 17. He could very easily just be a junior in HS with that DOB. But he's a 2016 recruit, so maybe that's why no one has heard of him. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 3, 2015 Author Report Posted September 3, 2015 ESPN ranks him a 4-star but there's no recruiting info on him other than what little there is on Rivals. He looks extremely athletic but I suspect he's very raw. His hometown is Luanda, Angola. http://espn.go.com/college-sports/basketball/recruiting/player/_/id/211780/bruno-fernando Quote
Norm Peterson Posted September 3, 2015 Author Report Posted September 3, 2015 Scout says: Bruno Fernando, a native of Angolo, Africa, missed the first couple of days of Nike Peach Jam due to summer school obligations. But once the 6-foot-10 big man showed up, he had his coming out party for E1T1 against Team CP3 in the first round of the playoffs. He played physical, tough and stayed active in the paint. He flashed good hands, made a mid-range jump shot and rebounded both in and out of his area. With his pure size and tools on both ends of the floor, college coaches were buzzing about the available post player and they’ll surely be tracking him through the July evaluation periods and at Montverde next season. http://www.scout.com/college/basketball/recruiting/story/1563511-first-july-eval-period-breakout-performers Quote

Norm Peterson Posted September 28, 2015 Author Report Posted September 28, 2015 Burno jokes aside, this kid is taking a look at UCF. He's still apparently under the radar with coaches. But look what this guy has to say about him: http://ontheradarhoops.com/otrhoopsreport-big-potential-sept-8-2015/ Quote

He's young enough to be a 2017 recruit but he's already a physical specimen. If what you're looking for is a rebounding shot blocker/rim protector, he's the complete package. You're probably not going to try to dump passes down to him in the low blocks so that he can go to work with his back to the basket, but if you have a point who can penetrate and dish, he's certainly capable of catching the ball and dunking it. MitchMcGaryMunchies Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 I don't know if I've seen someone shooting free throws during a highlight video? Or so excited to make one Looks very athletic, but he's most definitely as raw as sashimi. Norm Peterson and hhcmatt 2 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted October 2, 2015 Author Report Posted October 2, 2015 Raw as sashimi. That's funny. Actually, the free throw thing I think was just due to the fact that he's a fiery player. You can just see it in his manner that he's got a little bit of swagger. It showed up in other plays too. And I think you want a big man locking down the middle who has a bit of a mean streak to him. Until he's committed somewhere else or for sure isn't eligible or whatever, I'll continue to look at this guy as long as we still have scholarships available. This dude is an athletic freak in the paint. That right there is enough to be intrigued. Quote
AuroranHusker Posted October 2, 2015 Report Posted October 2, 2015 As Miles has stated about bigs, "Can they defend the pick-and-roll and hedge on screens?" If he can do both as well as rebound & protect the rim with an ounce of offensive potential, then send Miles & Co. the kid's name. You just never know ... Quote

It was 2nd hand but should be fairly reliable. Wish I could share more, just don't have it to share. hhcmatt 1 Quote
