Let's assume we are doing a flash forward to the first exhibition game.  We know we won't have Ostrander until after VB, and let's also assume we won't have Shepard, Theriot, and Clark because Yori decides to sit them for exhibition games to aid in recovery (I have no idea if that will be the case or not).

Who will start?  We can re-evaluate after the Australia trip.

jess, Rachel and kendyal will probably play in the exhibition game if healthy.  Holding them out in summer gains months of rehab. Holding them out an extra 7-10 days for injuries that are 9 months or older for all 3 adds nothing.

My guess.....to start season

If healthy... Jess and Rachel T (Jess is doing some limited on the floor stuff now...don't about R.T., or Clark)

and these

                Havers

                Natalie Romero

                Jasmine Cincore

The currently healthy list for Austrialia

                Havers

                Natalie Romero

                Jasmine Cincore

                Washington

                Esther

Austrailia: We'll probably see a lot of action from the newbies..... Rachel B & Maddie. Clark fits in if healthy (anyone know her status?), as well as Esther, Emily, & Anya.

There's still a lot of time until exibition....Nov 1 ...3 months time for more healing. The the lineup would be wide open.

Just hope Jess, Rachel T., & Clark are ready.  Then add Ostrander. Get all those 4 in play...and we'll be real deep and a different team from the Australia squad. Better depth than the last few years, both in the paint, and at guard.

Looks like everyone is forgetting about 43 and Maddie. From reports from some on here 43 is more than capable of starting unless I'm missing something. I will throw my hat in here as well my starting 5 are as follows.   Nat, Cincore, 43, Maddie, and Havers. Oh and by the way I wore 42 when in white and 43 when in black, So I like the 43 kid.

The original post excluded Shepard, Theriot, and Clark as starters (sort of a worst case scenario, that none would be ready to go immediately).  Has Clark been able to practice at all?  If not, I would give the nod to Cincore to start the season, because she has been here for a year and knows the system better.  Once Clark is healed and up to speed with the system, things may change.  It's a good problem to have.

We should get solid minutes from the bench for all positions this year.  Theriot should even be able to take a breather now and then.

Anyone know how Kalenta is doing?

BTW, it is nice to have players show up in shape and ready to go.

Yes, everyone currently playing seems to be OK, (except Esther)....and the others healing from surgerys apparently are doing that too.

Rachel T and Clark are playing (lightly) in practice..... they and Shepard are riding stationary bikes, so quite possibly everyone may be ready by the exibition season....still months away.

A lot can, and will, change by then

Since the opening regular season game is month's away we have time to discuss various line ups and have some fun with it.  Last year we had a much smaller line up then many of the teams we played.  It won't ever happen but look what we could put on the floor.

Theriot.........point         6'

Simon..........2  guard    6'2"

Blackburn......wing       6'3"

Shepard.........PF          6'4"

Havers...........Ctr          6'5"

I know that puts several players somewhat out of their normal position but it shows we have done better in recruiting good players with height.

The make up our team should be much different than last year. The good start by the freshman ..... and the add of Clark and Ostrander...makes for a real interesting mix.

We played most of our freshmen last year not totally healthy, and they missed things early....but we had to use them.

Will Yori stay with what was essentially 3 guards like last year, or go to a post and 2 forwards, and 2 guards? The potential's there for either set up...(or a mix of both at times....if she can coach that senerio)

Also we probably can press more, with a deeper guard presence.

Two straight years of outstanding recruiting classes will start to show this year...even after losing a couple commits.

If all things are in place by the regular season I agree with whoopdeedo on starters...

Shepard, Havers, Rachel T, Jazz, and Romero

No doubt we'll have a much better bench that last year.....many will play alot...at least I hope so.

coach yori may be able to afford to put more "weight" on matchup than in the past. so, we could see a few different starting lineups. the one thing i would put money on right now, is, rb43 will see plenty of action---and will not be surprised to see her get some starts.

kinda have a softspot for kalenta---just the road she has traveled where she has reached this level of bb. i hope she can get playing time for her senior year. best of luck to her. watched the few times she did see action last year---she played hard, always looking to set a screen---but, i think the footwork at this level may not be there. hope she can prove me wrong.

let's just hope coach yori has a "healthy" team to work with---right from the start of the season.

I agree that we won't miss her.  She just never could regain her confidence after the injury and relapse.  She did come back this summer and practiced some but I think just couldn't regain the confidence especially in her shooting and that's critical at this level.  Potential is one thing but actually displaying it on the court is another.  We'll see if she regains it with Gonzaga.  Hope the best for her.

without rehashing all of this, we found out Chandler wasn't "all N". hard to miss someone that struggles with the place she is competing and attending classes. i don't mean it in a derogatory fashion, she just wasn't happy at Nebraska. it happens. i do think she tried, but, i think we all know that isn't/wasn't enough. i wish her nothing but success at gonzaga. i just believe Nebraska will be fine without her.
