Kansas State came off of a game vs Baylor that the WIldcats lost 69-42 on Saturday. Tonight KSU beat KU 70-63 after having lost 6 of 7 games for an overall record 1 game below .500. Any of that ring close to home for Nebrasketball (maybe, sorta)?

There are all kinds of Kansas State Parallels.

We left a Colisseum and eventually moved into an Arena; they left an Arena and eventually moved into a Colisseum.

They once had a coach named Frank Martin; we once had a booster named Martin Frank.  Eerie, huh?  I'm just getting started.

Their current coach, Bruce Weber, was forced out of his prior job at Illinois (coincidentally, a B1G school) after he lost to (drum roll) ... Nebraska, which ... coincidentally ... was Doc Sadler's last Husker win before he was forced out.  I know, wow, right?

Kansas State and Nebraska BOTH replaced head coaches in 2012.  And BOTH hired new head coaches whose last names have 5 letters.  (This is freaky, and if some of you need to stop reading at this point, I understand.)

Former Husker hoops coach Danny Nee went to college at ... Kansas State.  As did CURRENT Husker Assistant Jim Molinari.

Former KSU head coach Tom Asbury went to college at ... Wyoming, which is right next to Nebraska.  And he played for Wyoming the year AFTER Bob Devaney left Wyoming to take the head football job in Lincoln -- the same Devaney, for whom the former Nebraska basketball arena was NAMED!!!!

And former Wildcat head coach Dana Altman grew up in ... Nebraska.

I mean it's like JFK and Abraham Lincoln.  The coincidences are crazy.

Close but no cigar Norm...Danny actually went to Marquette, then left to join the Marines.  When discharged from the Marines, he did not enroll in KSU, but instead (drum roll please) enrolled and graduated from St. Mary of the Plains College in Dodge City, Kansas.  And as a side note, St. Mary of the Plains is no longer.

OK, so I took some editorial license.  Geez, everyone's a critic.

Wow, just wow... Norm, here is another weird coincidence. As cwg says, Danny went to St Marys of the Plains. It was also where Don Dee played after his high school career at Bishop Lillis in KC (also no longer there). They were 32-0 his senior year and I played on one of the teams beaten like drums against him. He also played on the 1968 Olympics coached by Henry Iba whose son Moe ended up coaching at NEBRASKA. Yet another example of what I-and Carl Jung- like to call synchronicity. ( And to make things even stranger, Dee, Nee, Moe, and me all lived next door to KEVIN BACON at one time!)
