Thought the results are great, we expend a lot of energy on defense. The downside is that we will loaf on offense at times or play without as much energy. We either need to slow it down to Wisconsin/Michigan pace or have a 8-10 player rotation. (We could also just decide to outscore people but that doesn't seem like us.)

That will be the question this summer: how many guys can we play?

FWIW Miles on Sports Nightly said he didn't bring in a top 25 class to sit on the bench.

He did say that, and it wasn't remotely subtle.

He said that?

Where the hell is Trickey with his Sports Nightly run downs?

I assumed Miles wasn't doing a show anymore since Trickey hadn't been typing up the summary.

Trick?  Where you at?  We need you, man!

Norm, Throwback was the dude who gave us great summaries of Coach Miles' radio show in the past.  So, Throwback, get back after it!  :)

I only caught the last 15 minutes of the show. That nugget was part of fairly detailed question and answer from him. I'm going to definitely pull up the audio today.

It's not the first time he's talked openly about the recruits coming in.  He mentioned it in a post game show after - I wanna say - the Indiana game.

I know it's cliche' & possibly against the Miles philosophy, but I would LOVE to see an Arkansas circa '94 "40 minutes of Hell" type of rotation. If our incoming talent is as good as advertised (it usually isn't) then this scenario doesn't seem out of the question. I'm old enough to remember when hanging a 100 on somebody wasn't that rare.

Playing 9-10 + full court seems fairly implausible given it would take a not only that number of players but also a paradigm shift in our current defensive philosophy

Not to mention Nee's teams regularly had 20-25 turnovers a game, which wouldn't work out all that great unless you can rebound like a bunch of mad men...

Thinking of the score output, did anyone else notice that Nebraska Wesleyan won last night 110-108 behind 20+ three-pointers. Apparently NE W. had 33 in the 1st 9 minutes and totaled 65 at halftime!!

What is it we're clinging to again? I'm ready for a shift in paradigms, platitudes you name it...

I believe that would be good, solid defense which is imperative in a possession-based style employed by most teams in the Big Ten.

Seems that the ol' Big 8 was more of a gunslinger league in the early 90's, IIRC.

I believe next year, depending on who we are playing, we will see different people off the bench.  We will see the same core 6-8, but players 9-11 or 12 will all be dependent on matches.  That means we may see some of one player one game, and not see him again for a few games.  I am ok with that as long as everyone buys into their roles.

Having greater talent and depth doesn't DEMAND we play a more up tempo style, but it will provide us with a greater flexibility than what we have now. We are at a very fluid point in the history of Husker Basketball as far as defining who we want to be as a program. I think Coach Miles recognizes that.

After watching the Minnesota game I am having an even harder time concentrating on this year anymore but I will do so out of respect for the guys who are giving their all even though it can't be much fun anymore.

Nebrasketball is doing some of that mixing substitution based on matchups this year, particularly with Tai, Leslee, Moses & to a lesser extent Fuller.
