TheKamdyMan Posted April 9, 2014 Report Posted April 9, 2014 looks like Nebraska will be looking into getting him. Looks like solid numbers for the 6'7'' SG/SF http://stats.njcaa.org/sports/mbkb/2013-14/div1/players/deshawnfreeman1r1h 16.4 pts 6.1 reb 2.4 ast 42.9% from 3pt Norm Peterson 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Decent numbers from 3, but for a juco, those are otherwise fairly pedestrian. Compare to my pal Sai Tumalla who didn't even sniff the floor at ASU this year and who played at one of the top jucos last year. (He's not really my pal but I wanted him to commit to us.) Quote

Those are great #s. Jucos are there to get guys recruited so everyone plays a moderate amount of minutes. Add on he was only a freshman and those #s are even better. Athletic 6'7" forward that can shoot and rebound. I would guess he has a big year next year as a soph. Quote
MandRHusker Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 If he is 2015 doesn't that mean those are freshman numbers? If so, they are very strong numbers for a first year Juco! Norm Peterson 1 Quote
TheKamdyMan Posted April 10, 2014 Author Report Posted April 10, 2014 Remember Norm Hutch has a 5 star talent that took away from him scoring more in Kadeem Allen that signed with Arizona. I bet his numbers next year are better when he's "the man". Also assume Terran leaves early he would be a good stop gap for the same position. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

Fullbacksympathy Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Wow. He would fit perfectly in MIles' system. And 42% from 3? I'm convinced. He's mean as hell too. We need that. Quote

OK, yeah, figured out those are freshman numbers. That changes things a bit. Remember Norm Hutch has a 5 star talent that took away from him scoring more in Kadeem Allen that signed with Arizona. hhcmatt Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 And 42% from 3? This is on 6 of 14 shooting...way too small of a sample size to really tell us anything. Quote

Nebrasketballer Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 Holy Crap! That video is dirty! He is now #1 on my wish list for the 2015 class. Authority at the rim on both offense and defense. Bring more of this 'Dunk City' to Lincoln. He could be a nice option to take Petteway's spot when he leaves for the NBA. Quote
Huskerpapa Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 I will throw an element of caution out into the dungeon. 90% of the shots that he is making in this video, he will not get in the Big Ten conference. It appears he is cheating back a bit and getting the benefit of others who are defending. He also appears to be a bit undisciplined...how will that play out on our current team and his future teammates? Quote

Well the video is from HS and he still seemed to excel as a freshman at Hutch so I'm assuming he's making a good transition to the college game. Quote

You may be very correct...it was simply an observation from that specific tape. Quote
Section_316 Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Not sure how he can be cheating back when he is swatting every other shot off of the backboard Quote
Huskerpapa Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Not sure how he can be cheating back when he is swatting every other shot off of the backboard I see the swats as well...not trying to be an a**. I am simply saying that often, he is hanging back towards half-court, perhaps it is due to the defense being played...again, it was an honest and humble observation from watching the video. fred1212 1 Quote
Cookie Belcher Posted April 11, 2014 Report Posted April 11, 2014 Defensive discipline and playing to the scheme can be taught. The raw athleticism and ability to make some of those dunks and blocks cannot. He was dunking better and more easily than anyone we have had in a long time. It's like if you took Pitchford's leaping ability and moved it up a few notches. Quote
Norm Peterson Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Does this say anything about our prospects with Deng? Quote
Neebraska Posted April 21, 2014 Report Posted April 21, 2014 Does this say anything about our prospects with Deng? I hope not, but not the worst parting gift we have ever received. Quote
