NU needs Havers to develop over the summer to put some size on the court. Ā She can run, shoot the mid-range jump shot and has some decent moves. Ā The team should be able to play more full court pressure defense because there will be some depth at the wing and guard positions. Ā However, the post area is still going to be limited in depth. Ā It seems that only Washington will be able to contribute in the post area. Ā Romeo could start and move Theriot to the off guard. Ā Time will tell.

My guess is that Havers will show a tremendous amount of development over the

summer and will move into the starting line-up. It really won't matter much

because Connie will be able to go back to her preferred substitute in waves

defensive system so a lot of players will see minutes.

So you displace T with a true freshman and have T coming off the bench. I would think you would go with the upper class man unless Romeo is just that much better than T

I think T, Theriot, and Cady are definitely starters next year, barring injury.Ā  Sample might (might not) be a starter.Ā  I suppose it depends on how Washington and Page are coming in, and how Havers develops.Ā  It's hard to imagine Sample not starting since she has been a starter since her freshman year, but if one of those newcomers develops into a scoring threat, it might happen.Ā  Or am I crazy?Ā  So maybe T, Theriot, Cady, Havers, and one of the new girls.Ā  I have no idea.

I don't think that sample loses her starting role to good on def. I was just wondering how others see next year is aall. I have no idea who will start or won't start. To me the length is where it is at maybe you move page in at the pt at 6,

' 2" and put theroit in at the 2 spot that would be every starter over 6 foot.

It would be nice to have 5 girls on the court that are all a threat to score. Offensive wise, Sample really hurts us because whoever is guarding her just sags into the middle daring her to shoot.Ā  If there is someone who can actually shoot just an average percentage from around the 3 point line, then we are a better team.Ā  That said, that person would have to play at least average defense.Ā

Ā

I will admit that Laudermill shocked me and probably everyone else on how much her 3 point shooting improved in the middle of the season.Ā  Maybe a minor miracle will happen and Sample will develop a 3 point shot.

Hailie Sample is not losing her starting job next year. Coaches love her, all

Big-10 defensive team, shut down the best scorers in the B1G, can body up underneath and still chase quicker wings on the perimeter, in top 10 in conference in offensive rebounds, top 15 overall rebounding. Made an outstanding defensive play in virtually every close game we were in this year.

Understand the game plan better than anyone.

Agree; Connie would argue we are a better team with her in the lineup, despite the shooting deficiencies and sometimes playing 4 on 5 on defense.Ā  We may be able to reduce her minutes from the upper 30s, but if healthy she'll continue to start and get big minutes.

Should have clarified, Romeo would start instead of Havers but that would be a very small lineup. Ā I believe the 4 returners all start, who will the newcomer be???

I think the starting 5 will be the same as this year, subbing Hooper for Havers. On the surface it might seem like that's a big drop-off from this year (replacing 20 ppg, 10 rpg with Havers who may average 10 and 6 next year if she improves a lot), but I think Hooper's production will be absorbed and then some, by the depth we will have next year.

Ā

Off the bench, I expect Jeffery, Romeo, Page, and Washington will all play at least 10 minutes per game, and the averages of those four plus Havers will at the very least match Jordan's numbers (and probably exceed them by 10-15 ppg).

Ā

This year we basically got nothing from the bench, maybe 5 points and 5 rebounds on an average night. Next year, Connie will hopefully be playing two waves of players to give court time to Page and Romeo (who I think will be impact players from day 1) and hopefully Jeffery (still time for her to make a jump like T), Washington, and any other freshmen or sophomores who are ready to play.

Ā

I think the combination of fresher legs and playing a more up-tempo style will offset the loss of Hoop. I feel more optimistic after losing Hoop than after losing Moore last year, even though Jordan is undoubtably one of the top 5 players to ever play here.

Ā

I agree that 2015 is looking really good. The prospect of Theriot as a senior feeding Jess Shepard and all the young talent surrounding her is very exciting. If they all develop like Coach Yori's players tend to, imagine this line-up (best case scenario in my opinion):

Ā

PG Theriot (senior)

PG Romeo (soph)ā€¦twin point guards like we had with Theriot/Moore last year

SF Kaylee Page (soph)/Lanie Page (fr)

PF Allie Havers (junior)

C Jess Shepard (fr)

Ā

That team would have an unprecedented amount of length, skill, and scoring ability for this program. I could imagine an Elite Eight or Final Four if those players continue to develop (and commit to NU in the case of Lanie) over the next 2 years.Ā

BTW, I find it refreshing that there are so many possibilities.

sweet, eh!?! Ā but, man, not sure you move Rachel T. the way she can pass, do you really wanna take the ball outta her hands coming up the court? i just don't think so. she has developed such a presence about her as general of the floor. imo, rach stays where she is.

I don't think you move the four that have started 30+ games unless it is due to an injury or the person is just that much better than the starters which I don't see.

For the people who have seen Kaylee Page play how would she stack up against Cady and Hopper in Athleticism. And she possibly play a wing ?

Kaylee could play a 3, she could play 4. Much is expected of her; we'll see how she takes to it.Ā

Ā

The true "wing" -- and a player you'll really, really like -- is Chandler Smith. She could be Nebraska's best volume 3-point shooter next year. Ā
