Honestly, I thought it should be Beilein for awhile now. But that's before we started kissing first round tourney byes.

So how do you evaluate what almost has to be a two coach race between Miles and Beilein right now?

Arguments for or against? What standards?

Did you hear on the post-game they said Petteway hurt his knee against Northwestern and it swelled up really bad and they didn't know if they'd even have him?  It wasn't his back like some said.  Knee.  And they managed to keep it quiet.  I told my son at Northwestern game that it looked to me like Petteway was gimping coming out of a timeout.  Looked like he'd banged it.  But there he is.  Hopefully he gets fully recovered by Wisconsin.

I don't think there's any way you can say B-line has done a better job coaching this year than the guy whose team was picked by nearly everyone to finish dead last.  But then these things usually go to the big name coaches with teams at the top of the league standings.  So ... we'll just have to see how it pans out.

Win against Wisconsin and I think only an idiot would vote for anyone other than Miles.

It will be Beilein. It shouldn't, but it will be. Everyone is amazed that they won the B1G without three starters and McGary. Now I'm sorry but I don't care who you lost, you were in the national championship last year and we were picked last. I know I'm biased, but c'mon

Ok more info there about how beat up Petteway was/is. But I believe he did have a back injury on top of this newly discovered knee ailment. The back injury was evident during the Illinois game.

Both teams overachieved, although obviously NU's achievement is jaw dropping. Both rosters are young.

Michigan had to win without a major player most of the season. NU had to win with people no one's ever heard of.

One thing about us is we were picked last as much because no one knew anything about this year's team--including most of us--and it wasn't because they knew who our returning players were but thought they sucked. That changes things a little.

Tough call, but this should be close.

At The beginning of the year Michigan was picked 2nd in the big ten, so they finished one spot better.

Nebraska picked dead LAST without a single vote, Lost the 2 top scorers, only 2 guys with playing experience coming back.

Now you are 4th place with one game left.  Moved up 8 spots.

If Nebraska beats Wisconsin, I think Miles will wrap up Bigten Coach of the year

Coach Miles wont leave.  He said it was hard on his family to move from Colorado.  Now he has 2 kids in school 2 years later with friends ect...  All his family is 3-5 hours away.  Priceless

Nebraska can afford to pay him the 2-2.5 million and that will keep him.  There is no program that could draw him away when we are in the top conference already with sold out crowds every game home or away.

You watch the Big East, American, SEC and even the Big 12 has empty seats

Are assistant Coaches will be getting looks.  No dought about that

I would have thought Minnesota was his dream school, but being that it's a conference rival I can't imagine him ever directly leaving here for there.

How much $ does the B1G coach of the year make?

Cause that's what we need to be paying Tim Miles right now.

I think Miles gets a base pay boost for winning it.

Not going to be a popular opinion but i think whoever wins the conference should be coach of the year

You very well might be right though I'd temper that to say that the winner of the conference should be the favorite to win the coach of the year.

Winning coach of the year and player of the year happens to teams that win...probably in the top 4 in the conference and/or make the NCAA tournament.  Win and get in the tourney and they both have my vote if they didn't already.
