I've done my share of moaning and groaning about our recruiting woes the last several years, but it's time to acknowledge that 3 players that are making a big contribution to this year's run are Benny Parker, Shavon Shields and David Rivers.  Thanks to Doc and his staff for handing us some quality individuals who are going to be here for a couple more years (well, one for David).

Doc does deserve some credit for landing these guys, but let's call a spade a spade and acknowledge that these guys developed under Miles. 2 role players and an above average SF for sure. Sorry, but i just don't have much confidence that they would have developed offensively under Doc. His track record here shows otherwise.

Props to coach Miles.

Shields and Parker didn't ever play for Doc (they both signed right after Tim was hired), but Doc is definitely the one to credit for the vast majority of their recruitment.

Good to acknowledge that Doc also saw something he liked about Rivers, too.  On tonight's post-game, Miles mentioned that Rivers' H.S. & AAU teams both won titles w/ Rivers.  That's interesting... maybe a Big Ten tournament title is yet to come?!

Auroran, you're not quite right there.  Benny and Shavon both signed LOIs to Doc.  Miles convinced them to stay committed after Doc was fired and he was hired.  But they wouldn't have had a lot of other options at that point and I think they both liked Nebraska.  Benny and Shavon signed the same November as Fahro, the other PF who played for Brynjaar Brynjaarson, and the one juco kid who tweeted that he didn't understand math.  All five were in the same recruiting class.

This is all Timmy but we wish doc the best.

What tim and his staff did with TP and even helping shavon develop more consistently this year. Benny as well.

I loved Benny by the way today taking on hammonds for that loose ball.

Kid is tough

That's what I get for going from memory!  I knew Parker & Shields could have gotten out of their commitment, like Doug McDermott at Northern Iowa when his dad got the CU gig.

I don't believe that Sheilds was all that difficult of a recruit.

It certainly didn't hurt to have Will on NU's side!!  But, Shavon likely did have other options that he could have pursued if he hadn't stuck w/ Miles' new crew after Doc was let go...

According to the broadcast today, we were Shields only major Div 1 offer.  Several mid-majors

Still options to be had if they hadn't "clicked" (see Fahro to UAB)... and, I referred to Doug McDermott's case earlier, looks like Shavon's case is just the reverse situation.
