When I mention the words contract extention people go into hemorrhage mood. Am I right or wrong in thinking Miles contract should extened.

His initial contract was 7 years. That's pretty lengthy for college hoops. Would hope he gets a raise this summer if we keep this up.

Well yep. But he is ours and I think we are going to keep him for awhile.

Anybody know what his benefit/award structure is?

Would get $75k for NIT appearance, with additional incentives for NIT Final Four and winning it.

His whole contract is available in PDF form at omaha.com

And you didn't link it. :)

I (kinda) tried, but I'm on my phone using Southwest Airline's ridiculously slow wifi. It's a first-page Google result, though.

Miles will see a one-time pay bump for each of the following achievements: $150,000 for an NCAA bid, and additional amounts for any NCAA tournament wins (for example, $30,000 for first round up to $300,000 for a national championship); $75,000 for an NIT bid, or as much as $150,000 for an NIT Final Four or $175,000 for an NIT title. $75,000 for any 20-win seasons, including postseason play. $50,000 for a top-four finish in the Big Ten regular season and $50,000 for making the Big Ten tournament semifinals. Championships in either would net $100,000. $50,000 for being named Big Ten coach of the year and $100,000 for national coach of the year.

Miles stands to add a huge bump to his base salary by winning out.

Also, it would seem that he might make extra money by only making a NIT if he has already hit the NCAA bonus money.

So it's the typical contract, But did it say what the buyout was ? If it did I missed it.

Thanks.

Winning out would add an additional $150k for winning the Big Ten Tournament and $300k for the National Champions banner (going from memory here).

Miles would owe the university $1 million if he resigned on or before March 31, 2013, and that figure would decrease by $100,000 each year thereafter.

Should Miles be terminated without cause at any point during his contract, he would be owed $75,000 per month for the remainder of the agreement. However, there is a clause for mitigated damages that would decrease those payments if Miles were to find new employment at a certain salary level.
