I'd say anything less than an NCAA tournament berth is a bust.  Hopefully we can avoid dropping very winnable games this year (unlike last year) and challenge Indiana for a regular season title.

With better pitching, assuming it stays healthy, and veteran leadership, we shoud have a good shot.  Deeper pitching should help in the mid-week games.  We were very thin last year on the mound, and had to roll some marginal guys out in the mid-week games.  Kelly as a thrid year guy is big.  Not only is he a very player, he is a clubhouse leader.

Good banquet tonight. Ersty was inspiring as always. Players seemed fired up; have goals of 40 wins, hosting a regional. I think it will happen.

P.S. Baseball players get the women. (Pro golfers do also). The hot girlfriends made the price of admission worth it right there. Very impressive. Not to mention a couple of the moms.

Are the days of this being a one bid league over in your guys opinion?

Good question.  Ersty gave a statistic at the banquet--I didn't catch it all but he said since we joined the league it has gone from 16th to 10th to 6th or something like that  in terms of conference power ratings.  Said several schools are building or putting in major facility renovations.  Implied they are doing it to keep up or catch up with us.  He likes the competition.  So it should follow that the Big can be more than a one bid league.   I haven't yet looked at the lineups for other schools to get a feel for 2014, but i do think we'll get in this year.

Heard Kubat went psycho and that's why he's not traveling (same thing he battled last year).... Wtf how can that happen??

Well, if you call having chronic arm trouble "psycho", I suppose.  If you're going to post something like that, back it up.

Anyway, getting back to reality, we should have more pitching depth this year to tide us over until Kubat returns.

Last year he had the yips, lost complete control of the strike zone, was hitting dudes. Big mental hurdle he had to overcome. When he did, he was nails. Last week he blew up, had a good 5 inning outing than lost it two days later during a flat ground. KK is a perfectionist so he was whining and moaning and silva got after him and he lost it, started yelling back & when Silva kicked him out of practice, he went ape shit. That is why he isn't traveling this weekend. He will presumably be back and be fine just like last year.

HB if you wanna believe he has arm trouble that is fine, its just not true. I am posting this info cause I figured people would be interested. If you want me to give out my sources, that is just something I won't do.

You don't have to believe me, that is your choice

I don't care what Pacific's record was last year, it feels good to start 1-0 for once.

Yep, needed a W to start off given the last few years.  Lose a couple out of the gate and that monkey would be growing.  Now we can just play.

Psycho as in???

The rumor is he went all Rick Ankiel last year......hard for me to believe considering the first game he came back he was nails right away.  Would be a major blow if hes out for an extended period of time.

I played against Ankiel when he was making his comeback as a position player.  They were still having him throw bullpens and everything to see if he could come back.  In one series I saw him throw a bullpen session that was absolutely filthy and you'd think he had found his stuff again.  The next series we played them he threw a simulated game during BP and lets just say he would've considered the next Rick Wildthing Vaughn pre-glasses with batters in the box.  Its amazing to think it can happen but it does.  Its a good thing they have Sinclair to bolster the rotation and hopefully a freshman can step up and get the 4th game and mid-week starts to help out the team.
