Just another day, and another game against a top ten team.  Such is life in the B1G this year.  Playing #41 Iowa is going to seem like a bit of a breather.

Don't look now, but we've leapt up another spot to #145.

Which raises a question:  Do we HAVE to play UNO every year?  If so, then we better start helping them out with recruiting.  Win or lose, that game has to be hurting our RPI (or Kenpom rating or whatever.)  And Central Michigan continues its nosedive.  They need to right that ship in a hurry.

Theoretically UNO should become better in basketball the longer they are in Div I

UNO basketball has historically been pretty mediocre/bad.  I wouldn't necessarily expect much from an athletic program that got rid of their greatest program.

Wisconsin making a late push for the conference title.  Nebraska's making a late push to pass Northwestern for 10th.

What do Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois and Purdue all have in common?  Besides conference affiliation.

They have all lost to teams with a worse Kenpom ranking than any team the Huskers have lost to.

If ONLY we had held on to beat Purdue, we'd both be tied for 9th at 6-11 right now, but we'd hold the tiebreaker over them.  Doggonit.

Not going to happen anytime soon but I'd find it funny if someday UNO was better than Creighton. Since they are in the University of Nebraska system, I'm more inclined to root for UNO over Creighton 100% of the time.

Not much change, MIchigan State is making a late surge while Oregon keeps plummeting (after getting swept by Colorado and Utah this week).

rpiforecast.com has us #46 with an expected final record of 13-17. I'm gonna enjoy it cuz it's probably the highest we'll be all season.

If we finish 13-17, Miles isn't coach of the year, he's coach of the century.

What about if we finish 14-17?  Coach of the millennium?  ;)

Here is the "well we won, so I get to continue doing the pomeroy thread one more day" rankings.

Also, how good does it feel to have a "W" next to the Purdue line?  Now, let's see one next to the Ohio State line.

Last one of the year.  We started off at 216, hit our low point at 218 after the Kent State loss, and crept up as high as 127 yesterday.  We stand at 130 right now, and I suspect that's about where it'll stay until the start of next season.

It's been a season which we all dreaded sitting through, because we knew the going would be rough, but one that ended up being somewhat enjoyable, ironically.  We witnessed a team that is definitely trending in the right direction, with satisfying (if not downright surprising) wins against Valpo, @Wake, Southern Cal, Iowa, Minnesota and Purdue.

We saw the emergence of an impact freshman and leader in Shavon Shields, the rock steady play of senior Brandon Ubel, Dylan Talley switching positions in mid-season and doing a hell of a job at it, and a Ray Gallegos that, while inconsistent has provided a much needed scoring punch for this team.  David Rivers has grown into a much more consistent and valuable contributor as well, I expect more big things from him moving forward.

There has been disappointment, too.  A short bench made shorter by injury and fatigue, players who failed to become the impact players we needed them to be, and some downright ugly performances against Kent State, Creighton, Oregon, Ohio State and Wisconsin.  But as low as we've been this year, the positives (and the bright light that is the future of Nebrasketball) have, almost miraculously, outweighed the negative.

I have enjoyed doing the Pomeroy rankings this year, and I look forward to doing it again next year, hopefully you have enjoyed following this thread as much as I have had doing it.  With any luck, next season, these rankings will actually have some meaning in terms of postseason implications.  And now, without further ado...
