GoBigRed Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 I thought there were issues with his credits transferring over to colleges? From Robin two days ago: "With all international players, the main holdup for Webster is getting all of his completed academic credits to transfer over properly, which Tony said they are not worried about happening." The SAT has nothing to do with his high school credits transferring over to Amercan colleges. So not to rain on the parade, but the SAT doesn't mean his credits have properly transferred, right? I know they say they aren't worried about it, but I'm still not over the Roburt Sallie situation. I can just see Tai coming in and sitting here all season, never getting clearance from the stupid NCAA Clearinghouse. Quote

It's entirely with the NCAA. If his SAT score is high enough, which it appears it is, all the other issues are a moot point." Quote

I may be off base on this but I think eligibility with the NCAA is sort of on a rolling basis. In other words, if your SAT score is this, then your grades need to be this. My guess is that using Webster's previous SAT scores, he had to reach certain grades for his high school and there were issues on what classes could be used. Now that his SAT score has increased, the classes that the NCAA was having issues with are no longer needed. Just my speculation. hhcmatt and Nebrasketballer 2 Quote

Norm Peterson Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth. If he's eligible, then he's eligible and I'm not going to care about how it happened. Huskerpapa Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Barf at the OWH puts a bit of clarity into things with this short article this afternoon. We now wait upon the NCAA Clearinghouse...sigh. http://www.omaha.com/article/20130620/HUSKERS/706219961/1002#guard-tai-webster-moves-a-step-closer-to-enrolling-at-nebraska Nebrasketballer 1 Quote
Nebrasketballer Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 "A tweet sent out Thursday morning from Webster’s brother about Webster passing the SAT set off a burst of inaccurate and unsupported speculation about him being immediately eligible and already on his way to Lincoln." I don't think this means anything different than what most of us were thinking. Obviously, he wasn't literally jumping on a plane right when he recieved the results and heading to Lincoln. But the SAT score is now what it needs to be, in order for him to be eligible. It seems like a case of the Websters being told what needed to be done in order for him to be cleared, and he has done that, so now he is good to go. Maybe technically he's not cleared, but from what I have gathered from reliable sources, it's simply a matter of processing the information...however long that takes. Again, from Robin Washut: "His issue has nothing to do with NU admissions. It's entirely with the NCAA. If his SAT score is high enough, which it appears it is, all the other issues are a moot point." hhcmatt 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 What "burst of inaccurate and unsupported speculation" is he talking about? Quote
Nebrasketballer Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 What "burst of inaccurate and unsupported speculation" is he talking about? Yeah, I know... The only thing I can think of is that he took it literally when his brother said "he's on his way to Lincoln". Obviously, he wasn't literally jumping on the plane when the tweet was posted, but Webster has done what he needed to do. Seems like it's just a formality at this point. Quote
atskooc Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 What "burst of inaccurate and unsupported speculation" is he talking about? Probably that he's been through the clearinghouse and is good to go, which is not yet the case. Quote

Probably that he's been through the clearinghouse and is good to go, which is not yet the case. You could infer that from the title of this thread. Until he's enrolled and cleared he's going to be in the Roburt Sallie Memorial Phantom Zone. Nebrasketballer and Norm Peterson 2 Quote
atskooc Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 Not everybody out there in the "burst" read the title of this thread, or really understands what it means to be "eligible". Quote
Norm Peterson Posted June 20, 2013 Report Posted June 20, 2013 This thread is a burst of inaccurate and unsupported speculation? I mean, what other conclusions are we to draw? Quote
