It talks about Amy leveraging the portal on a limited basis; yet we've been successful doing so.  Successes include Bella, Jaz and Berte.  Will likely leverage this year if we can find the right fit.

We need to find at least one big.  Williams from Wisconsin would be the catch.

The headline, "NU Likely Will Turn to Portal" tempts the reader to think (or hope for)  more than the actual content delivers.  A key sentence puts a bit of a damper on enthusiasm by saying that the Huskers will become "slightly more aggressive in transfer recruiting".  Slightly.  On a related matter, it reminds us that Weidner did not participate in Senior Day and is working to get healthy.  It also describes Prince as being a player who is committed to program long term.  Sure hope so. It does not cite AW as having specified what types of player (like big, shooter, or defender or rebounder) NU will be prioritizing.

Allison Weidner working on getting healthy may or may not translate to time spend on the court. I am not expecting much from her for her last year. Now if she is able to play all year then great. Feel like we need to get a very good 4-5 from the portal. Will see what comes of it.

If she doesn’t work the portal harder, we may only have 9 or less healthy players to start the year.  I don’t know why we don’t use our 15 allowed scholarships in this sport.

Make no claim to know all the inner working of WBB ay NU.....

 

Big issue...hope Potts can be at full speed next year. Weidner may retire ? Not many committed recruits in play so far, kind of troubling considering the reduced numbers after graduation this year.

 

Just keep thinking Amy might surrender (so to speak ) and kind of revise her thinking about use of the portal. While we fully get her desire to put together a "family" style team (and there's no question there's value in that), maybe, just maybe, there's also value in what we can recruit using the portal, with greater emphasis finding players out there in the portal.  

 

Where is the future of obtaining players? Recruiting HS players, or the portal, or like most are doing these days...a mix of both.  It's getting so some teams wholesale assemble, nearly complete teams through the portal...Michigan, Maryland, TCU etc etc  Which is sort of freaky (too old school I guess) 

 

We're  going to be a much different team next season. And certainly a lot can change by then.

yes, we have only two incoming freshmen, the pool of as yet uncommitted HS seniors is thin, and AW has historically made very little use of the portal.  There is another source of players and that is Europe.  Or maybe UNL will surprise us with another Aussie - they have been good for us.

I did notice Fresno State has an Aussie in the portal and she was a good scorer for them.

I did like us reaching out to California to get a HS recruit.  We need to expand our footprint from just the Midwest.

Definitely need to work all angles for the best prospects we can find. Nebraska has a lot to offer, and should be pursuing players worldwide. GBR
