Doesn't appear that many, if anyone, sees these; but I thought I would continue to share.  A few were complaining earlier that little information is "out there" about our hoopsters.

If it came from the women's basketball Twitter site, I'm not able to see that

Nice article in the morning paper - mostly about 5*BP but comments on/from other players as well.  To me, the most welcoming and heart warming comment was about Weidner being 100% and feeling her old self after her 2nd knee surgery.  Having her back as she was moments before she took that dive into the camera crew could be as important for this season as the addition of BP.  There are some unknowns as the season approaches:

  • Will Hargrove be able to apply the skills and physicality she showed as a small town HS super star to playing at the D1 level?
  • Does Petrie continue to show the progress she demonstrated from start to finish last season?
  • Can Bozan contribute valuable minutes to reduce the load on Markowski and Petrie?
  • What will Rimdal add?
  • Did we really need another big either from recruiting or from the portal?
  • Other questions intentionally left out leaving room for comments from others.

Amy definitely has enough players and therefore enough depth.  This statement might be a stretch, but this team as a whole might be more complete than any since the one that  reeled of 20+ consecutive wins and achieved a #1 ranking.  Not saying that such is within reach this year - not saying that at all - but just that this might be the best team since then.  Of course they play in the midst of superior competition to the teams from 10-20 years ago.

Let's go see!

here's a snippet from the article:

That leaves Shelley’s shoes — and her 13.4 points, 5.7 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game last season — to fill. Prince’s prolific scoring and rebounding skills may not be as important as whether she and her teammates can feed posts Alexis Markowski, Jess Petrie and Natalie Potts, the last of whom was Big Ten freshman of the year last season.

NU builds its offense on “post touches,” especially to Markowski, set to enter the school’s top 10 for career scoring.

“She’s a great 3-point shooter,” Hake said of Prince, “but she ‘betters the ball’ for her teammates, and I think that’s something we need to do when we have such a great inside presence.”

Prince is game for that.

“I’m willing to accept whatever role comes my way,” she said. “I just want to help the team win.”

We'll see..... down the road a bit of course, but it does seem, many of the pieces are present to have a very good team. We already have strong position players with good experience.

Markowski may be the strength in the early part of the season, and the B!G later. The key to success may well be the newbies and how quickly they adapt and adjust to the college game and Connie's system. Kind of believe we have the people that can make up for the loss of Shelley. Need consistent shooting on the perimeter...from someone(s).

See Potts having a major roll, and real good year.

Been talked a bit earlier, our weak preseason schedule. Good for rookies, but not so much later when you almost over night play much better teams...double edged sword.

Could write for hours about the new team's prospects, ....season's a long way away.

Adjust to 'Connie's system'.

I know it is early but who do we think will start for this team? Markowski, and Potts are a given. I also think Prince will be there. If both Weidner and Nissley are 100% then I could see them fill out the starting 5. I can also see Moriarty if Amy wants or needs to build minutes more slowly with either Nissley or Weidner.

No doubt in my mind...

- we will ba a top 20 team

- we will win one or two games in the NCAA tournament

- we will have two players on our team that will be All Big Ten [top three teams)

- we will have one all american.

- we will be in the top 4 in the league.

- we will have multiple complaints about Amy.

I'm sure we will and it'll be throughout the season

I hope you are correct on all counts. Would be nice to see Markowski get AA honors but will settle for All-B1G 1st team. With now 18 teams in the B1G not sure we will be a top 4 school, I think top 6 is doable. Lastly I am sure I will have a few words about Amy from time to time.
