But on that last point, I'd argue our team is better built for the NCAA tournament than some others in the Big Ten. We spread out our offense, any player can pick up the slack, and our defense closes those passing lanes in the paint. The other thing that started to happen the last 2 games for NU is that Brice started to create his own shot more often. That will be very important in the tourney to have Brice and KT able to create their own shots when necessary. GBR! Quote
CanadianHusker Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 (edited) Shannon called for an offensive foul vs. Wisconsin??!!! Please God, no! I don’t want the world to end before NU wins its first tourney game this week! Edited March 17 by CanadianHusker throwback, cornfed24-7, tcp and 1 other 1 3 Quote

Because Brice got called for that very thing yesterday when a moving (not set) Illinois defensive player slid into his path and made contact with Brice's shoulder, who was driving to the basket with his body relatively leaning forward at the time. Norm Peterson Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 I don't know why I was so pissed at the way the game ended. I'd been saying I would be happy if we beat Indiana and OK if we then lost to Illinois. The extra day of rest would be beneficial. We've seemed to elevate our play coming off a loss most of the season. I said ahead of time I'd be OK with beating Indiana and then losing to Illinois for that very reason. And then, when it happened, I found myself pissed. For probably the same reason Juwan Gary was pissed. That, and we started pressing and forcing things when we damn near cut it down to a 2-possession game. Oh well. I'm going to be happy to watch our name get called this evening. And I'll just be good with whatever. tcp and Serenity Now 1 1 Quote

I never like to lose, but a B1G Tourney Championship is not the end all be all for this season. Much bigger fish to fry for you Catholics! Wow, can you imagine the buzz at the fish fries if the Huskers play on Friday or are coming off a Thursday win? No one cares about Creighton. millerhusker 1 Quote
brfrad Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 Our losses have been to teams who either shot well in the 1st half (Creighton, @ Wisconsin, @ Iowa, @ Northwestern), or pressure us (@ Minnesota, @ Rutgers, @ Maryland, @ Illinois, Illinois BTT, and @ Ohio State) I feel we need to find teams who don't pressure Indiana would be that team (probably why we dominated them 3 x) Quote

No. I meant the guys that actively drive into a defender. Mainly Shannon from yesterday. It seems like he went full bore into set defenders. No way guys can stay set when that happens. Guys sliding underneath is a defensive foul. Edited March 17 by cozrulz Quote

hhcmatt Posted March 18 Report Posted March 18 Post game notes -Nebraska took a 51-40 lead into the locker room, marking the third straight game Nebraska scored at least 50 points in the first half. The Huskers had scored 50 in both of their past two wins against Michigan and Indiana. The 51 points tied Nebraska’s season high in the first half (also vs. Lindenwood and at Indiana). -Today’s game was the fifth time overall this season Nebraska has scored 50 in the first half and it tied Nebraska’s highest scoring first half against a conference opponent since joining the Big Ten in 2011-12. -Junior forward Rienk Mast scored 15 points, including 13 in the first half. It marks the 20th double-figure scoring game of the season for Mast. -Mast connected on three 3-pointers in the game marking his fifth game of the season with at least three 3-pointers and first since making four at Illinois on Feb. 4. -Brice Williams scored 23 points, marking his 24th double-figure scoring effort of the 2023-24 season and fourth 20-point performance.
