Well, since Wisconsin just lost one of the games they needed to win to stay ahead of us ...

They close with two at home including against Illinois and Rutgers. And they finish on the road at Purdue. And we hold the tie-breaker.

If Northwestern loses to Maryland, then Wisconsin will jump us to #3 without even playing a game.

However, I'd hate to be Wisconsin and playing that remaining schedule right now.

Nebraska can take care of business and be in the driver's seat for 3rd in the Big Ten. That would be something. We're concerned with seeding/location in the Big Dance at that point, and not all  that concerned with how it winds up on the weekend in Minneapolis. Let's do this, Big Red. GBR

Technically, we're only in the driver's seat for 4th place right now. We'll know more tomorrow.

You cherry-picked that comment, I believe that when we win out, the 3-seed is likely going to be NU's. Hopefully not the 'other' NU, either. 👍

Not cherry-picking. I'm not sure that's the case. If Wisconsin and Northwestern wins out, then Wisconsin gets the #3 seed, Nebraska #4, and Northwestern #5. If either of those teams lose 1, then the three-way tie is no longer in effect and we had advantages over both of them for #3.

Actually, yeah

With Penn St losing last night this scenario is no longer valid as Maryland and Penn St now need to win out to reach 10-10 which is impossible because they play each other.

The Wisconsin team is in a free-fall.... they ain't finishing 3rd.

I said "cherry picking" because you only quoted one small portion of my comment. Just an FYI.

Scenario for finishing 2nd. Illinois going 1-2. I ran the same scenario with Illinois, except NWU beats Minny in last game for both and we still get 2nd over NWU based on tie breaker via winning % against #1 seed Purdue.

Edited to add that Illinois, Minny, NWU, and Rutgers all have 4 games remaining over the next week and half.

Makes sense, suppose I saw that as a crucial point of clarification that impacted the rest of your comment.

Just wild to me that (at least just for today) Wisconsin's loss can result in them dropping 2 spots (#5) but tonight's game can move them right back up to #3.

But you're right, Wisconsin's remaining schedule is the most at risk for winning out. I'm not concerned with them. Even if we lose 1, Wisconsin is likely to match us. And we have the 2-team tiebreaker over them.

Yep, I was speculative in my comments. Nebrasketball broke the pesky Badgers. haahaha

We’re getting more and more threads since the eyes are all on Nebrasketball now. So I didn’t see this discussed. But we’re rooting for Maryland tonight right? Top 4 seed….we’re safely in.

Yes, they're no chance a top 4 Big Ten would ever be left outta the Big Dance. . . (gulp)

This season, NU has the quality wins, so that's going to be what separates them from 2017-18. GBR!!

Maryland win is better for our chances at the double be.

NW win slightly better for metrics since we played then twice

FWIW if we tie just Northwestern we are over them due to us having a better record vs Purdue.

Yeah, but they just put 13-7 on the table. That was one I didn't think they'd get. They now have 2 remaining home games against Iowa and Minnesota.

If Nebraska can get Ohio St. again in a 5 vs 12 matchup, then I'm not too concerned about the bye. I'd love another shot at Ohio St. at a neutral site, I think NU beats their brakes off. That would be a nice pelt, then have Wisky again to pummel in the BTT quarters. Just keep winnin' from the remainder of the regular season's 2 games & see how the chips fall after that. GBR
