Glad Amy took a TO to get starters back in. Yep.....At one point in the 3rd qtr we had a 14 pt lead. And all of a sudden our lead shrunk to 7...... and there was only one starter in the game. Put most of the starters back in and what do you know.....in about 5 min we're back to 14 pt lead. When I noticed only one starter playing, holy cr*p ....roughly speaking you should not have less than 3 starters on the floor at all times. Substitution chaos. Our defense was pretty effective the whole game. Purdue fouled pretty much constantly. And....the refs missed a lot of calls by Purdue. A good win really. Guards had a better game. More aggressive on offense, and it played out well. GBR for a very good tough effort tonight ! Red Don, HUD and Cazzie22 3 Quote

caveman Posted February 1, 2024 Report Posted February 1, 2024 Moriarty probably played her best game of the year and I really do not think she is anywhere near her ceiling cause of her athleticism. White played down hill which is what I've been waiting for since the B1G season started. Nice win and some defensive lapses in the first half give us much to build on. Reffing bad calls were made both ways and I do not think it had any outcome on the decision. That being said, when a player takes a flagrant elbow to the face aka Jaz on a questionable screen, they do have to check the monitor. Player protection is their important responsiblity. I do think foul no foul not double checking was a poor decision. Red Don, Huskerpapa, Cazzie22 and 4 others 7 Quote
All About the Corn Posted February 1, 2024 Report Posted February 1, 2024 Anytime you can have 5 players in double figures (points) we should be having a good game. May not always be a win but more often than not will result in a "W". Outside of a lull in the second when we let them back in it to close the half, we righted it with good play after half time. We took care of business, now on to Rutgers. caveman, mwm89, Huskerpapa and 1 other 1 3 Quote
All About the Corn Posted February 1, 2024 Report Posted February 1, 2024 With regard to the vibe on the WBB board. To me what I think is we are seeing more fan frustration in the posts. For me I do not see this team as a glass half empty but a glass half full with the potential for more. Red Don 1 Quote
Huskerfanzzz Posted February 1, 2024 Report Posted February 1, 2024 I liked the decision to switch up the starting lineup, although I think Moriarty at the 3 might have made more sense. AM was relentless in the first half and that set the tone. Love her determination. The tempo and guard play reminded me of the Michigan game, and I think we play our best basketball when it looks like this. Potts had a great 2nd half and gave us the effort on the boards that we haven’t seen the past couple games from her. Red Don 1 Quote

Glad Amy took a TO to get starters back in. imo.........no. Krull makes me really nervous. really, i want her to do good when she is in there, but, i just don't think she should be one of the first off the bench and definitely not starting. KM needs to be first off the bench or if coach wants that other option for starter. nissley has a ways to go. good shooter, but, her passing needs much work. especially when she gets caught around the basket. coach needs to reign Hake in a bit. i love her aggressiveness, however, she has to know to stay out of certain situations when driving the ball. can't throw up a shot that has about a 5% chance of going in. MOST of the time, defenses have closed in on her pretty fast. right now, her best game is around the perimeter. i was thinking Potts may have hit a wall.......but, i think she'll be just fine. i have joined with many of you.........this subbing stuff. ugh. just had to release a little steam.....even on a nice win. Oh,,,,,,,and Hud, you may have won the battle of discussion on Illinois.....even though they did spank Michigan and have lost a lot of close games. mwm89, HUD, Red Don and 1 other 1 2 1 Quote

Do you think it would make more sense to utilize Hake's aggressiveness by coaching her up to kick it out when defenses have closed on her to a (hopefully) open shooter rather than shooting up a prayer?
