Faux Mike Peltz Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 Well, tonight at the end of the first half, Coach put Cale in for the final minute or so. Maybe it was less. That part wasn’t surprising, I think Cale can contribute. But, it was interesting that Boogie hadn’t yet been in and I don’t believe he played against Michigan State. Not sure if he played at KSU, but it would seem like he’s in the doghouse. Or maybe he’s recovering from an undisclosed injury?? Quote
hhcmatt Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 Hasn't played since three bad minutes in Minnesota. He's not injured. Would assume it's entirely effort based. thrasher31 and Vinny 2 Quote
hskr4life Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 I thought for sure Boogie would see some minutes last night. Especially with the way the first half was going. After the Minnesota debacle, I was ok with a DNP against MSU and KSU. His effort against Minnesota was unacceptable. However, I didn’t realize just how in the dog house he was until last night. A DNP last night followed up by another DNP against SCST could spell a long Jan-Mar. Quote
hhcmatt Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 Made a note to find him coming out of half since I was thinking maybe he could provide a spark and he was just half-assing through the drills. Looks like a guy who doesn't either get or care why he's not playing. Quote

Handy Johnson Posted December 21, 2023 Report Posted December 21, 2023 I’d rather see Rice & Jacobson get his minutes. cornfed24-7, AuroranHusker, 1HuskerDad and 1 other 1 3 Quote

Yikes. We needed a point guard so we go to the portal. And we get Ulis and Boogie. Might be one of the most epic recruiting failures ever (realizing we wouldn't have gotten the second guy if the first one hadn't imploded.) Vinny and basketballjones 1 1 Quote
thrasher31 Posted December 22, 2023 Report Posted December 22, 2023 I've keyed in on boogie on the sidelines a bit and in pre game or half time, and very uninterested is putting it politely. He will get a shot at some point this year inevitably. Just need to be ready, and right now it does not seem like he is preparing to be ready. Credit to Fred for ripping the band-aid off. If ulis doesn't put them in this position, we don't have to take boogie. Quote

Could it foretell a potential transfer at semester's end? Quote

He'd basically be ending his college career if he did that. I think he'll get another opportunity this season, he just needs to be ready. Norm Peterson 1 Quote

hskr4life Posted December 22, 2023 Report Posted December 22, 2023 (edited) I mean— everything is really fluid with the courts right now. So to my knowledge it’s currently free transfer season until the courts decide otherwise. If he was going to transfer, one would have to assume he’d have done it already. We’ll need Boogie at some point in the year, so I hope he is bought in and this is just a blip. Edited December 22, 2023 by hskr4life Quote
Faux Mike Peltz Posted December 22, 2023 Author Report Posted December 22, 2023 I had high hopes for Boogie being bought in as a pass first distributor. He will definitely need to capitalize if he gets another shot Quote

I have to think there's a rule in place that once you take the court for one team, you cannot do it for another within the same season. I think @hhcmatt had this a while back Quote
Huskerpapa Posted December 22, 2023 Report Posted December 22, 2023 We have had past players find their way to the end of rhe bench and then with hard work find their way back into the rotation. I'm hoping that Boogie learns from the tough love and finds himself, and improved game, back on the floor. Vinny, Handy Johnson and thrasher31 3 Quote

Can't be what we've seen so far. Quote

Handy Johnson Posted December 23, 2023 Report Posted December 23, 2023 Boogie makes me long for the days of Bo Spencer. Imagine if he was on the Team this year, (with that Sweet Ink) & the Scoring Punch he could provide. But I digress, this situation will resolve itself & I can’t see his minutes increasing once we hit Conference play. Quote
Faux Mike Peltz Posted January 22 Author Report Posted January 22 Well, it’s been a month since the last post on this thread, not sure I’ve seen Boogie play more than a few minutes since. At this point, Fred and staff must not trust him or his practice habits are so bad that he can’t be played. I think Cale has passed him on the depth chart coming off the bench… Quote

I think Cale has passed him on the depth chart coming off the bench… Boogie played a ton of minutes against S. Carolina St. on 12/29 and he went out and had 6 turnovers to go with 6 assists. I think Hoiberg & Co. saw enough lazy passes and lack of effort to firm up their 8-to-9 man rotation to not include Coleman going forward. Faux Mike Peltz 1 Quote
Faux Mike Peltz Posted January 23 Author Report Posted January 23 Yep, I remember that now. Coach said some complimentary things about him too afterwards. Then it’s been pretty scarce… Quote
