We did the choosing, to my understanding, in the form of stubbing our toe on Mulcahy. His peeps  reached out. We muffed it. I'm not sure the details. That's just the way it was described.

Interesting. Guy I follow on Twitter said things got spicy between him and UW and Rutgers didn’t want him back. Then 2 days later they worked it out. Figured it had to be NIL

Could've been a matter of us being overseas and trying to play the games when this was taking place maybe? At the same time, landed Coleman, but that was AFTER the games. 

 

Also, Coleman actually was in the portal vs mulcahy never re-entering. It's interesting, but Coleman isn't a bad consolation

UW screwed up his enrollment. He started looking. His peeps reached out to our peeps. We apparently didn't return the call or something. I don't know exactly how we messed it up, but that's what I'm being told. So, whatever happened, it would be us. And, from the sounds of things, we would have had our pick. But we git what we git and we won't throw a fit.

The pessimistic Nebrasketball fan in me has seen this too many times to not think about how we could regret this in about 6 months.

Only so much you can do when the kid isn't in the portal unless you want to full on tamper. I highly doubt we were the only team his peeps reached out to, assuming the story is true.  You shouldn't risk getting into a recruiting battle for a guy that isn't even in the portal and shun a guy like Coleman.  We needed a serviceable player in the worst way to handle the ball.
