Cazzie22 Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 I hope Bourne is back soon. That’s my main concern for this team and this season. Mendohlson might get some minutes today. whoopdeedoo and Neb Nets 2 Quote

Neb Nets Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 Anyone else holding their breath seeing Haiby in the game? Just hoping they aren’t bringing her back too soon. But perhaps I should just shut up and trust the NU medical staff who just maybe know more than I do Quote
Red Don Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 We got a Two -fer!!! Sam Haiby Sighting And a Megan Mendelson Sighting, Both on the Floor at the Same Time!!! Quote
12dozen Posted December 18, 2022 Author Report Posted December 18, 2022 MM checks in. First impression, she runs the court well. A type of athleticism you don't notice on the volleyball court. Sam checked in too. Better numbers today. Cazzie22 1 Quote
Red Don Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 (edited) Stats at the end of the 1st Qtr of Play: Husker Ladies lead by 3 in a low-scoring game: 14-11 Wyoming w/a buzzer-beater bucket to end the Qtr. (Huskers largest lead was 7) Edited December 18, 2022 by Red Don Quote
Neb Nets Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 Maggie M’s first career points as a Husker come as a result of her going 2-2 at the FT line. Followed by a shot block at the other end. You love to see it NUtball, redsteve, 12dozen and 3 others 3 3 Quote

Cazzie22 Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 Didn’t watch the entire game but was very impressed with the way Maggie M could run the floor. Bourne and her on the court at the same time could be fun. Wyoming never left our shooters so penetration didn’t allow for kick outs to open threes. We didn’t win many one on one drives early which stalled the offense. This team is good but the real test is coming starting with Kansas. It will take our best performance to win that game. Hoping for a healthy squad for this run of games and that Jaz shrugs off today’s game. Red Don 1 Quote
All About the Corn Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 Nice game from Maggie today. Will add much needed depth going forward. Jaz with a off game today. She will be back. Great to see Alexis and Allison both have good games. Sam looked much better today. Still needs to just let the game come to her. On to Kansas. HUD Posted December 18, 2022 Report Posted December 18, 2022 Did you notice that when we pressed full court a few times very successfully we had Maggie back on defense to stop any press breaks. Took Wyoming completely by surprise. At present we are weak at the 3 position especially on the offensive end of the floor. Issy at a 3 and Alexis at the 4 with Maggie at the post would really cure that. Will be very important against the top teams in the conference. whoopdeedoo, All About the Corn, Red Don and 1 other 4 Quote

Huskerpapa Posted December 19, 2022 Report Posted December 19, 2022 A couple thoughts. - nice to get the win. - I actually didn't think we played well...yet we won by nearly 30...let that resonate for a moment. - Do not expect the same Sam. She will help, but she is definitely less mobile. I personally will take what we can get. - Maggie has a ways to go...but she is a good one. Really good one. Funny though, on more than one rebound, she went up and "spiked" the ball rather than grab it. - we all of a sudden have a pretty deep and talented front line. Red Don 1 Quote

Issie Alexis and Maggie at the same time AND Weidner and Jazz Would be my starting lineup if my name was Williams. Been my thinking for quite a while. Maggie was everything I've thought she is. Looks like she has more in the tank. Her shot blocking seemed to be contagious. Really moves well on the court. On one series she pretty much beat everyone down the court. Really adds another dynamic to the team. Going to take a few games for Sam to get up to speed. Saw flashes of it tonight. Markowski with another double - double. Her shot selection and movement with the ball inside has really improved. Much more effective. Not to mention she might become the 3 queen :) Anyone notice...Alexis is leading the B1G in rebounds Edited December 19, 2022 by redsteve Red Don 1 Quote
caveman Posted December 19, 2022 Report Posted December 19, 2022 A few thoughts. *Tonight was the worst I've seen Jaz play and also the worst Annika has shot this year and we still won by 37. *MM is going to be pretty special the best part was free throws 5 for 5 and she didn't touch the rim. An understanding that contact is your friend. * Markowski is developing that Griffenesk quality of watching the game you think she's not that involved, you look up and the stats say 22 and 10. * Sam still has that nice hesitation move on her way to the rim. The burst of speed is not there yet but hopefully it comes back. * I am waiting for Weidner to figure out she's skilled and athletic enough to take over a game. * Finally it's quite a work in progress but I just love Moriarty's game Neb Nets, Red Don, NUtball and 1 other 1 3 Quote
caveman Posted December 19, 2022 Report Posted December 19, 2022 Oh I forgot. I thought our energy was poor until coach went full court press which increased the energy level substantially, so good job coach. Red Don and Cazzie22 1 1 Quote

Matt mentioned he thought it looks like Brady will be out for awhile longer (he didn't mention anything about it, but must be the concussion protocols). Not a clue on Dillard; coaching staff seem pretty mum on her (like they were with Brady most of last season). Quote
hskr4life Posted December 19, 2022 Report Posted December 19, 2022 Didn’t get to see the game, but seeing MM go for 9-3-3 blk 2 TO and 100% from the field and stripe has to make us happy. Oh yeah… in just 10 minutes of play too. NUtball, Red Don and Montana_85 F 3 Quote
