If the boss is only willing to pay $15, and the employee isn't willing to leave, then by definition the work is worth $15. That seems like what I learned in Econ. The best measure of the value of a good or service is what a willing buyer will pay to a willing seller, where neither party is being coerced. Or something like that. Quote
big red22 Posted February 28, 2018 Report Posted February 28, 2018 Here is the deal... If Nebraska was typical Nebraska we probably lose both Minnesota games and both Wisconsin Game. I would assume Maryland probably beats us, Indiana probably beats us. Michigan definitely beats us and Penn St probably wins that game at PBA... That would puts us at 7 more losses and 5-13 The Conference looks better because... Maryland is 20-11 (9-9) Penn State is 20-11 (10-8) Wisconsin is 16-15 (9-9) Michigan is 28-6 (14-4) Indiana is 17-13 (10-8) If we were in our rightful place as a bottom feeder, Big 10 get's 6 teams in without question, because the Big 10 is more balanced. We basically f***ed ourself by being good I guess? trickey, rr52, Jock Farmer and 1 other 4 Quote

There could be situations where it might be better to lose a game to a team, giving them a RPI boost, and then beating them the second time if that RPI Boost makes it a quadrant one win, rather than beating them twice and getting two Quad 2 wins. While you are overthinking the importance of quadrants massively, just the fact you had to consider it speaks to how stupid the quadrants based on RPI is. cipsucks, ladyhusker, northwillriseagain and 2 others 1 4 Quote

While it's possible that your opponent would be quadrant 1 instead of quadrant 2 by going 1-1, I would pretty strongly argue that you would still be better off winning both games and having your own RPI much higher with a better win-loss record and having one less Tier 1 win. trickey and ShortDust 2 Quote

HuskerFever Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Well... South Carolina let that one slip away. Turned the ball over with 12 seconds to go and LSU pops up a 3 to take it to overtime. Quote

Trimming down tonight's list, it looks to me as if the most important games are: - Boston College over Syracuse (probably #1) - Xavier over Providence - South Carolina over LSU I think you accidentally bolded Kentucky instead of Ole Miss, but like you said, not that important. I'm also pretty sure that Seton Hall is in either way win or lose tonight. 2 out of 3 start it looks like!!! LETS GO BC HuskerActuary 1 Quote

HuskerFever Posted March 1, 2018 Report Posted March 1, 2018 Completely unrelated. Wasn't sure where to put this, but when looking at 'against the spread' we not have a competitor that isn't Xavier. The Canisius Golden Griffins are sitting pretty at 20-8-1 ATS and 21-10 as their actual hoops record. If only we knew to bet on Nebraska, Canisius, Xavier, Auburn, and Michigan we'd be doing quite alright! Quote
