they're better than we are. so is everyone else in the league, even arguably penn st. we can still beat them if we shoot better. we're due for a 40+ percent effort at home. Might as well be saturday.

It just occurred to me, when was the last time we were underdogs for pretty much every conference game but one? (psu at home).

every win we get is an upset. there's something kind of subversively cool about that.

Would rather play them coming off a W, in a game played a day later than ours, then the situation with Illinois--they had been beaten like a bad child, had extra days to prepare, coach has their attention, no fat-headedness, a little desperate....I thnk we'll give Northwestern a good go saturday.

It'll be an interesting game.  Obviously, I am compelled by it no matter what happens.

Oddly enough, the 'Cats have been a much better road team than they have a home team this year, so that could somehow make it tough for the Huskers.

The Swopshire kid is basically Northwestern's senior transfer (from Louisville? IIRC.)  Anyway, he's averaging basically 10 and 6 for Northwestern.  That's the kind of senior transfer I hope falls into our laps for next season.  Getting that kind of senior transfer would be the kind of thing that would lead me to think the stars are starting to align for this program.

The Kale Abrahamson kid we tried to recruit (from Iowa HS) is averaging about 15 min and 5 ppg while shooting nearly 40% from 3.  Be nice to have a shooter like that on this year's team.  Could have used that kid, but ... saves more scholarships spots for the all those 4- and 5-star kids we'll be getting for 2014, right?   :D

Abrahamson was a player Doc and his staff wanted badly.  He was higher on our list than anybody we ended up signing - including Shields.  I think Miles would be happy if they had landed him.
