I think we are fully vested on July 1st, 2017 at which point we're looking at a minimum of 50 mil per year.  I guess we'll see how much this new deal factors into our vesting agreement.

"Last month, we learned the Big Ten reported $448.8 million in total revenue for fiscal year 2015, a $110 million increase over the previous year. Each of the conference’s 11 members from before conference realignment received $32.4 million each, with Nebraska, Maryland and Rutgers still being phased in as full conference members."

What's the current revenue of our previous conference compared to this?  How much longer can the Big 12 survive?

The average payout to members of the Big 12 in 2014-15 was 23.3 million compared with approximately 32 mil per year for the Big 10. The Big 10 and most of the other conferences have added a lot more money relative to the Big 12, which is partially hamstrung by the lack of a football playoff and the Longhorn network.  If having $$$$$ to put into athletics = success, then moving to the B1G was and has been a no-brainer decision.

Totally agree with that last comment.  I've thought the same thing since it was originally announced.  Thanks for the added info.

Not to mention increased prestige and academics.  God was smiling on DONU when we joined the Big Ten!

Not to derail too much, but I'm just curious to hear people's opinions on how moving to the B1G affected us in:

1) Football

2) Basketball

3) Other sports (specify if desired, or just use this as a catch-all)

4) Academics

5) Perception/Reputation

I'd say:

1) TBD (I'm not seeing the potential value in this yet)

2) Absolutely improved

3) Improved (e.g. a few more prominent volleyball squads)

4) improved (aside from the politics involved in dropping us from the AAU)

5) Slightly improved (greater performance on the field might help bump this up)

Football- At the time i had mixed feelings, but now looking at it with hindsight, its a no brainier, we have a better stronger conference, and hopefully Iowa, and Wisky hold up and continue to be competitive.

Basketball- easiest no brainier  bball is so much more competitive with teams like OSU having a down year but likely bouncing back next year.

Other Sports- Volleyball has always been more national than conference based, so we just need to continue being a national powerhouse, conference dosnt matter, Baseball will continue to take some time, but continued success and exposure for northern teams is helping Baseball all around.

Academics- no brainier, dont even need to discuss how much better it is to be with other successful academic institutions.

ReP- the rep is coming as the blue bloods like NU, Penn State, Ohio St, Mich continue to get back to national prominence, and teams like Iowa and MSU keep succeeding it wont be long til Big Ten vs SEC will be an actual conversation.

Not sure I agree with you on Football.  I could make the argument that the Big 12 was actually better overall.  Big 10 football is a pretty boring conference.  I could get more excited to play Iowa State than I can to play Purdue.  And your comment about Iowa and Wisconsin hold up and be more competitive.  I think NU needs to look in the mirror on that one as it seems that Nebraska hasn't held up on the competitive end.  Seriously, we play in the "joke" half of the conference and we are having a hard time even competing with those teams.  We'd never make the Big 10 championship game if we played in the East division.  '

Overall, the Big 10 was great for Volleyball but a huge downgrade in baseball.  As far as football or basketball, it's probably about an equal move as we probably didn't really gain or lose much.
