  1. Love seeing this kind of talent. Now if we can consistently get the top player each year, it would be the cherry on top.
  2. Very tough to judge; and although the trip will be helpful, I'm not sure we will really know this team until December. Heck, we often say we don't know a juco until the second semester...we not only have a couple jucos, we have a full team of newbies. It is good to be optimistic, but unfair expectations can destroy a team.
  3. I wasn't surprised by Langford's high draft position. The kid could/can ball, but he seemed to be hurt or played while hurting. A bit like Isaiah. I am not sure we saw a completely healthy Isaiah until the second half of last year. That said...I am unsure how Copeland is doing with his rehab, but I hope he is given a chance sometime in the near future to show his game.
  4. I think we have one, perhaps two that have podcasts.
  5. Gary was/is a friend of mine as well. He was my next door dorm neighbor my first year at UNL and our kids were acquainted in HS. :)
  6. Hmm, for me, if the University of Cancun would offer, I would commit there.
  7. The title of the book can be cool, but the content of the book is what is important.
  8. Stupid question of the day. And this is with all due respect to the posters on this board who have podcasts. But what qualifies an individual to produce/star in podcasts? Is it sort of the same as writing a tweet? I guess what I am asking is why should anyone care what somebody says on a podcast?
  9. Happy birthday Danny. As to credit, I think Danny did get a lot of credit. He wouldn't have it any other way. He was the type of dude who would tell you what he was going to do, and then busted asses to accomplish his goals. So he did get credit, what he didn't get though was a renewed welcome mat. Things happened, some within his control, and a little bit out of his control. Those things became a noose around his neck that replaced his cool Gary Novotny ties.
  10. Great game going on now...
  11. Right, wrong or indifferent; the use of marijuana within the college age bracket (and likely the entire population) is increasing. Why would anyone be surprised that the we are seeing it on our campus with athletes or any other college student. In 2017, 38 percent of full-time college students aged 19-22 reported using marijuana at least once in the prior 12 months, and 21 percent reported using at least once in the prior 30 days. Both of these prevalence levels peaked in 2016, the highest found since 1987, and did not change significantly in 2017. The 2017 prevalence levels represent gradual increases since 2006 when they were 30 percent and 17 percent, respectively. https://news.umich.edu/marijuana-use-among-us-college-students-remains-at-highest-level-in-three-decades/
  12. Humph, I am not impressed or even happy that he received an offer from Wisconsin, unless of course he chooses the Huskers.
  13. It has been a weird few months for me. I have sat back and I am just taking "all of it" in. It has been a whirlwind, and it is easy to understand the robust positive vibe. I am willing to take a wait and see approach. I want to see the players, the coaches strategy, the overall product and the results. It is hard when you are seeing a complete new product on the court. With the exception of Thor, we do not know how the players or the staff will react to basketball at this level. Is that good or bad? So although I am pretty sure what we will see will be great, I cannot and will not put on my rose-colored glasses just quite yet.
  14. Is it wrong that I am responding to this post only to make sure I am not the only one to notice the boobs in the background in this video? You mean the fake ones?
  15. https://omahamagazine.com/articles/the-budge-porter-story-comes-home/
  16. I still remember hearing news of when Budge was hurt. I am guessing that this kid has a heck of a work ethic.
  17. Who were the other two or three people in the room that were not charged? The decision (punishment) lies with the University, the athletic department, and the head of the football program...perhaps in that order.
  18. Big Ten is a crap baseball conference. A good percentage of the teams do not have lights. Recruiting is difficult, yet not impossible, but it is hard to get players south of the Mason-Dixon line to come north or from the west coast to come to the central part of the country. Remember, full schollies are rare if not impossible to give. I would opine that you will want to bring in a coach that can convince the best players in Nebraska to stay home and then supplement those kids with Juco players. Just my humble opinion. I for one will miss Coach Erstad.
  19. Random thought; I wonder if there is any consideration/possibility that the final practice (before the Italy trip) be opened up to the public at PBA?
  20. I will disagree a bit with this overview. Watching this kid play numerous games, you have to understand that the ball was constantly in his hands. He has unlimited range, yet his forte was penetrating and kicking to wide open wings and getting his big man in good one-on-one situations. He turned the ball over when he tended to overcook his game. At the next level, he will not have to be the sole ball handler. The game that impressed me the most was the Creighton Prep game. I cannot remember the name of the Prep kid, but the Prep kid was in DW's pocket all night, but despite the pressure, he handled the ball and engaged his teammates. This kid has talent Lincoln has not seen in years.
  21. Great win today. This young team seems to understand what it takes. Baseball is baseball, tomorrow brings new mojo. Hope we get it done!
  22. Yeah, Dwayne had a rather difficult childhood fraught with experiences a large portion of the population can't even fathom. His recruitment was limited due in a large part by his upbringing. According to his bio, he was recruited by three teams. Those teams were Marquette (where he went), Illinois State and DePaul. It is possible that Junior will mature late and become a very fine player. Somebody should be willing to take a risk on him.
  23. Over/under odds for both teams combining to score five runs?
