New Director of Basketball Ops
Huskerpapa replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Collateral damage to Husker Hoops Central as well. -
This sort of made me laugh...it doesn't happen very often in our neck of the road, that we need a player to lose weight. Maybe a handful in the past ten years?

Very sad to see Greg leave. He was very good at what he did. So now we have a European connection. Impressive! -
Wow...just wow. Wow!!!

John Beilein to coach the Cleveland Cavilers
Huskerpapa replied to hhcmatt's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
This caught me off guard. I am glad I am not a Michigan basketball fan tonight. Interim coach for a year??? -
Arizona St. vs. Nebraska series game thread

Great win today and great series win. Nobody can cast a shadow over the last two games. That my friends is an example of gutting out a couple of wins. -
Fixed that for you?

One of the big things that bugged me about her letter (and again she has every right to her opinion) is that she made it sound as if there are two sides to a certain debate. Further, she fabricated a story-line (in my mind) between the silent majority versus a vocal minority. I guess I never thought of myself in either category when it comes to Husker sports. I am a realist that is a staunch supporter and provide donations, likely small in comparisons to many others. I supported Joe until he passed, I am embarrassed by my actions towards Moe, and I have supported every other coach we have had sense then. When they move on, I move on. Now to the current point. I have zero problems with players choosing to leave, and I have no problem with a coach recommending to players to move on. Real world! Players come, players leave. Coaches come, coaches leave. The constant is the program/school and the fan base. I say fan base because a portion of the fans come and go as well. If I were to buy or form a business, I would want to surround myself with employees who support my philosophy and are loyal to me and what I want to accomplish. If a coach comes in, he should have a similar philosophy. Attempting to force square pegs into round holes is not fair to the pegs or the holes. So come on, whether you are vocal or silent, what this staff is doing that makes sense. Coach Frost has done the same thing, and for this basketball team to climb the ladder, changes were going to happen. Think about this as well, Coach Miles, for the majority of the season, relied heavily on five players. He did not have a lot of faith in the bench either. Granted Amir was hurt or sick or both, but for the most part, he would have pretty much started over as well. So here we are. Live with, and if you are a fan, jump on the wagon, this is going to a fun ride.

Wow...nice win. -
That was quick. But I am happy for Amir. Seems to be a good ft and it is close to home.

It sounds like this is true, and if so, wowser. This is excellent news. This kid should be a great fit. If we land this kid, my wish is" - at least one more big...and in a perfect world two! - team health - team chemistry

Always a difficult situation for many people. I guess I support her right to provide her opinion. I also respect that she had the intestinal fortitude to attach her name to her wrong opinion. But I certainly defend her right to be wrong.

Welcome to the fold young man. Mightily happy to have you. Now...we need a couple of bigs. No if's and's or but's.
-
...don't forget Piatkowski and Easley.

You hit on the key term when mentioning the Lakers. Magic left for a reason. I am extremely glad that Lue turned down this "opportunity" yet with the play money that is available, I wouldn't rule out anything yet.

2019 SG Charlie Easley (L Pius)
Huskerpapa replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
He was honored at senior day this past season, correct? I guess I never thought he was coming back. #4 Johnny Trueblood Johnny Trueblood 6'3" 194 lbs Position: Guard Year: Sr. Hometown: Omaha, Neb. (Elkhorn South) -
Are you sure about that Silver. I know Callahan and Bo are Catholic, but I was once told that Cook was not. He could be, I just heard differently. I do know that Coach Cook redshirted his son while at Pius, but I do not know the ins and outs of how that occurred.

This is always difficult, because we need to see the product on the court. That said, we are still missing power players. I will feel a bit better if we land some front court help.

2019 Transfer Shamiel Stevenson - LOI
Huskerpapa replied to Norm Peterson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
He looks like a tough S.O.B. I always like to have a player or two who can "take care of business" if warranted. Now, don't construe that to mean I want a dirty player. But having a Beau Reid type never hurts. -
Well that would suck Not surprising though. Great education opportunity. John Cook sent his kids there, as did Bill Callahan and Bo Pelini.

I am glad that this decision was made. He will be a welcome addition to the team. -
All is well with my family. But our favorite little ice cream shop was destroyed and Lee's appeared to have been damaged.
