  1. We need a great number of players and positions to take a giant step forward in order to meet the grandiose expectations of the fans. I think we are going to be better, but how much better will depend on the improvement. Norm, you mention the receivers. Our receiving corp was pretty good last year, but Stanley is gone. Big hole and we need three or four players to step up. Our offensive line was average at best last year. Two new starters need to step up and the three returning starters need to improve. Can Mills make up for the loss of Ozigbo? Will Mo be available? We may be very good at RB, or we could be in a world of hurt. What about our defense? We seem to have good leadership, but just because we have a lot of returners, are they going to be better? I hope so. The one thing I am pretty sure about is that AD is a heck of a QB and Frost is a heck of a coach. I think we are going to be better, in fact we could be pretty good but there is a lot of proving that has to occur this year.
  2. I am not exactly a rap fan, but all things considered...I am not a rap fan. But hey, it isn't about me, it is about the team.
  3. My rose colored glasses have dimmed over the past several years. I want to be optimistic, but instead, I find myself in the wait and see category. - I am hopeful we can be a good defensive team as we "appear" to be athletic, but can they learn to play together. We also seem to like an eraser type that could have helped cover mistakes. - We seem to be deep, yet is that depth made up of high level Division I talent? Not sure yet, but I am somewhat optimistic that we may have much better depth than last year. - The coaching staff seems to be high level, but is that me being hopeful? Are we now on par, or even better than most high profile programs? - Can we overcome our lack of size? - Will we be a hot and cold offensive team. Can we consistently score and win? Especially on the road? So, shoot the boot. I want to be optimistic; I would even take being cautiously optimistic; but I need to see the product on the floor. I need to see us winning loose ball battles. I need to see us winning battles for rebounds. I need to see teammates supporting teammates. I need to wait and see.
  4. I have grown to like and appreciate the various teams on 93.7. They have good chemistry and seem to be aware of the topical events. They also like to talk about Husker basketball, especially Jake and Sip.
  5. Glad to see GW staying with it. I wish him well.
  6. Okay dudes, it is only an exhibition. But hey, it is easy to be excited by the "what if"
  7. I take it we won. Whatever that means Perhaps the gelato will taste better tonight
  8. I have no flippin clue who starts, minutes played, who finishes, the leading scorer, the best defender, the best rebounder, etc. I guess time will tell.
  9. I personally do not have an issue with these games being out of sight (so to speak). There should be zero expectations regarding these scrimmages. The team needs to go to Italy, have fun, ball a little, see the sites and get to know each other. Winning and building expectations should take place later this autumn.
  10. Hmm, I realize he a bit slow mo with his moves, but I thought he would get a longer sniff at a possible NBA job. So count me as a bit surprised that he is moving to Europe at this point.
  11. Some truth to this, yet I personally disagree. There is something unique/awesome about playing in front of a full house. Especially when that full house is pumped up. I think if we can build that ravenous fan base and know that we have fans that aren't simply band wagon riders, we can expand. But that will be a mutual decision between UNL and the City.
  12. Great for James. Great wing players to learn from.
  13. Pretty underwhelming. But hey, it is all relative, right?
  14. Coach may be just being nice to Thor (though I doubt it). Thor may be a system player. If the system fits, he will react well and be a good contributor. I am not sure he fit that well into the Miles system. I guess time will tell.
  15. Just my humble opinion -- but yes, without a doubt, without question. But again, that is just my opinion.
  16. We got 12 tickets in the third row, mid-court. Should be fun!
  17. From the Then & Now interview of Brian Carr: HHC: 1985-1986 is a very memorable one for many reasons. Before we get to the positive, we have to ask what you remember about the illegal practice that happened at Mabel Lee. In your opinion, was that blown way out of proportion, and as a player, how did it make you feel? BC: That was kind of the situation that I was talking about earlier in regards to Coach Iba, as far as making it very difficult. I don’t know… I hated the fact how everything occurred. Not just from the media side and not just from the players and coaching side, but just the whole situation. It was so tough to deal with, especially being 20 years old or whatever. I wish I could go back and change some things that took place and that were said, and so on. It was strange to have your own newspaper do that to you, to have that planted in the paper. But at the same time, if what we were doing was illegal or against the rules, I don’t know, I just did what we were supposed to do, and just learned to play. I didn’t want to deal with that other stuff. And from Bill Jackman HHC: 1985-1986 was a memorable year in Nebraska basketball history, as it marked the first modern day NCAA Tournament appearance for the Huskers. Before we talk about this, we’d like to get your thoughts on the “illegal practice” that took place at Mabel Lee Hall. What do you remember about it? BJ: No comment. (Laughs) Do you think that the Mabel Lee Hall fiasco still grates on that team!?!?
  18. Sort of. I am sure he was prompted, but he commented on me playing football, basketball and baseball and finding a way to run track. Something about academics must take a seat somewhere in the backseat.
  19. That would be/is great news!
  20. The problem with having a game at a smaller (but great) venue is that the small wage earner would be excluded. The fair resolution is to have all tickets go up for sale on a lottery basis. I am pretty giddy if we just continue to have home games in our pretty special current home.
  21. What the heck???? Should I believe this? Should I care? Is this new? Did I just miss this? Heck, it is legal in his home town/state, so is this mistake. I am soooo confused. Mo Washington got popped in Lincoln and it made the news, so maybe this is nothing. Scotts Bluff County Court May 3 Jervay Green, 20, was fined $449 on a charge of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. https://www.starherald.com/news/local_news_briefs/public-record-july/article_cf4961ee-db7f-5082-ae0a-e318294806bb.html
  22. Better yet...

  24. Bob D was great for his time. Bob would not be able to handle things the same way today. But it is really hard to argue with the results. He led a good ol boy network. I still remember he appeared at my HS sports banquet and shocked me when he specifically talked about me in his speech. Absolutely floored me.
