What came first, the chicken or the egg? Will ourselves program reach the consistent level of a top tier program which will then entice high level Nebraska kids to come to Nebraska, or will high level Nebraska kids come here and take pride in elevating the Huskers to the elite level. I sort of think we are seeing evidence that we need to raise our level first. By the way, we are starting to see leakage with our football talent as well. We can all hope that we will soon see anyone WE want, also will want to stay home in Big Red country.

College Basketball --- laying down the law (maybe)
Huskerpapa replied to AuroranHusker's topic in College Basketball
I note that these schools plan on vigorously fighting their penalties. That sort of interests me. Will they attempt to claim that "...we only did it because EVERYone else is cheating as well!" -
Just a short side-bar comment - the Athletic just laid off a number of staff and cut salaries of others.

Here is the problem. This has been trying to be fixed for as long as we have been a country.
-
Tough question since we haven't witnessed many of these players live or in person. I would lean towards the red if the game was played now; mainly because they have the most experience playing together.

Have you heard something specific or just guessing? His game improved exponentially in a short period of time. He is transforming from a back to the basket high school player to an athletic, play in space, wing. From what I am hearing, there has been a mutual high-five on his progress. Also, he may still be lagging behind a bit on offense, but let's not forget about his defense and intangibles. He appears to be sort of a glue type of teammate.

Almost sounds like we may have a pretty decent team next year...

I guess my workouts aren't intense enough 'cause I can never alter my body shape to that extent.

Chris McGraw is N as walk on
Huskerpapa replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Welcome to the program young man! That said, we are still on the lookout for that elusive 6'10" big man with loads of skill and moxie to walk on... -
No way. That can't be Yvan!!!

Anybody here old enough to remember Juan Marichal going after John Roseburo with his bat. The Giants and the Dodgers have had some historic fights.
-
I hope that fans expectations remain in check for this young man. He has skills, but he appears to be a project. For me, I anticipate a possible redshirt year. Maybe I will be pleasantly shocked by where his game is at, but my expectations are going to remain low for year one until proven otherwise.

I've been to work every day as I am deemed essential and I will be in my seats for football and basketball and some baseball games when I allowed.

2020 SG Dylan Branson -> SE Missouri St.

Regarding the scholarship issue, I thought that there was a rule that any time you had a crossover athlete the scholarship diverted to the highest revenue sport??? Plus, wouldn't Danny like the idea of finding that extra scholarship? -
He sort of reminds me of Ffriend. Pretty raw but with a load of potential

I am a diehard, long time, traditionalist baseball (and yes Cubbies) fan. Now...and maybe I will rethink this; it is time that change is required. If not, it will be a small town in Nebraska, and die an ugly death. The game has to speed up. I will not go into minutia, but many facets of the game could evolve without losing adequate sight of the history. If this is not a focus, I am afraid my grandkids will, and yours, will drop the game from their minds.

Yeah...since I started the thread, I thought I could close it, but instead I deleted it...oh well. Hope no earth shattering content as lost. That said, i still hope our foreign contingent of players make it back with no issues

Don't sleep on this kid. He will be a good one for someone. -

This news did catch me a bit off guard. In fact it shocked me.

2021 SG Hunter Sallis ->Gonzaga->Wake Forest
Huskerpapa replied to AuroranHusker's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I am forever hopeful...but that "reality dude" sitting on my shoulder keeps telling me I should be more surprised if we get him then if we don't. -
He has a year to further his game skills and adapt his game to high divison one level. In the meantime, he will work with the scout team to push his new teammates.
-
Okay...I am going to say this, just because... He thanks God for a lot, and in truth God did choose to entrust the young man with physical talent. But God must have been a bit playful that day and said I WILL PROVIDE YOU WITH WITH QUICKNESS AND BASKETBALL TALENT, BUT I MUST REMOVE GOOD JUDGEMENT AND WISDOM FROM YOU! And so today we have what we have...a good point guard prone to bad judgement and questionable wisdom. I truly do wish him well. And I apologize for my frustrated vent.

Will they or won't they: A poll

Sorry, Linda Ronstadt (in her day) and without question or doubt, Mary Ann. Of course if you were after the money...Mrs. Howell.
