  1. Timing is a bit odd, but the outcome of the investigation is not. This was not an old school coach making an error in judgement. It was a pattern of behavior that lasted longer than it should have. You would have thought Penn State would know better given their history.
  2. Whaat, wait. How did I miss the fact that the NBA was playing. Hmmm. Must have missed that announcement. Now I suppose somebody will tell me MLB is playing as well. Is hockey going to play as well? Only thing I know is a great number of great players from my childhood recently passed on...Kaline, Gibson, Seaver, Morgan; et al.
  3. ...and all this hinges on a conference decision allowing it to happen...correct?
  4. I simply love the idea of NOT having to get the ball to a specific player in order to initiate your offense. Those wasted few seconds allows a defense to get into better position to defend. With the players we have, any number of them can "run" the offense and also defend multiple types of players.
  5. I am pretty sure I have heard similar accusations against him for a few years now; and yet Wichita State's reaction seems alarmingly slow. Winning seems to mask undesirable methodology.
  6. Bottom line...talent and depth. The men will have to perform to play. Past performance should mean nada. How they perform today, tomorrow and the weeks and months moving forward will be measured...not last year.
  7. Copyright issues with Kool-aide man???
  8. Watched him playing since he was a fourth grader. Hard to believe he is retiring...
  9. This one stings more than a bit...one, because of talent; two, because of his high national rating; three, he seemed to be an exceptional teammate and appears to be a young man of character; four, we recruited him hard, thought we had a great shot at him, but alas, we fell short.
  10. Said this in the football section as well; but to be the best you have to beat the best. I appreciate the opportunity provided by the schedule makers!
  11. To be the best, you have to beat the best. I appreciate the schedule makers giving us the opportunity to be one of the best. For those fans upset with the schedule, stop your whining!!!
  12. I am now an official member of the new knothole gang.
  13. I hate being lost...
  14. I am very cautiously optimistic about this team. But here are some very random thoughts: * I hope I can watch them live and in person (each and every home game). * While we are hoping and believing that our team will be much improved over last year, most other Big Ten teams hope and believe their teams will be vastly improved as well. * It is good that we are optimistic...lord knows my rose colored glasses have been put to good use over the years...but lest not forget that 1) we have a new team and chemistry is as important as talent; 2) last year many of our players sat out; 3) last year many of our players played against lower level competition; and lastly, 3) we must compete in the toughest conference in college basketball. Sooo...the season should prove interesting and challenging...if it is played.
  15. Jeez Jimmy, perhaps you should read a book on occasion I still laugh outloud at two classics; Animal House and Caddyshack. Ground Hog Day is in that same mix.
  16. He was a good one...RIP.
  17. You are correct.
  18. Sorry...I can't watch college football this fall. It ain't college football if my Huskers aren't playing.
  19. Excellent book indeed. For many of us who lived through the Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Robert Kennedy, Black Panther era we were likely hoping and praying that this country progressed. I guess we have a bit with womens rights. And despite the current issues we have made some progress with the rights of people of color (I also choose to include Native Americans). BUT, we have a ways to go. Those individuals though, that are trying to make this about politics...please stop. This is not about a vote or a politician. This is a systematic social problem that starts at home with parents and teachers and preachers and discipline. Learn that there is a right way and a wrong way. If you choose the wrong way, there will be repercussions or a price to pay. As my parents like to say if you commit the crime then be preapared to do the time. Nuff said.
  20. Tominaga can flay out shoot the rock, score the ball, tickle the net, et al. The concern for me will be if he can defend at this level and do the other things necessary to be a complete/team player. But then again, perhaps the staff simply wants a role player that can come off the bench and scorch the net. We shall see.
  21. Here is my two cents and yes, it is partly due to his decision not to come here. I am impressed with his game, but I am a bit amazed that he is a five star. He doesn't have all the tools, but yes, with time, commitment and great coaching he may be the greatest player to come out of Omaha. That said, he still takes a number of plays off. Others (many) do that as well. But when I've watched him that was a take away. I also waited for him to take games over, and that didn't happen when I watched. Perhaps that is due in part to the talent around him. I guess I was more upset with Chuckie taking his show to Wisconsin then Sallis going elsewhere. That all said...i would have taken this kid in a nano second.
  22. They couldn't kick us immediately without lawsuits popping up like popcorn.
  23. Is it to late for players who want to play; move to temporary locations that they can play???
  24. Nebraska has built its youth baseball programs over the last several years and it is starting to show with the quality of recruits we are seeing. Love seeing this going on!!!
