KenPom Historical KenPom rankings for Nebraska
jimmykc replied to 49r's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Let us hope that Doc becomes the Moe Iba to Fred Hoiberg's Don Haskins, if you get my analogy. I certainly would accept a one-and-done national championship, a feel-good movie, and a basketball HOF head coach as suitable goals for this regime. -
Spring brings poets out But basketball, not so much Except for Hoiberg

Mayor returns home Doc Sadler comes back as well Let's start practice now

I'm not sure who is correct on this derailed thread. I suppose we should just cast some runes and move on.

However, if the player wants to stay and still thinks he is good enough to play here, it would be difficult for the coach to actually force him to leave and lose his scholarship. Just ask Robbie Benson and G.D. Spradlin.

Matt: Not to be picky, but I note his last name is spelled Bantoon in our scholarship list. Might want to change this sometime. Thanks, Jiminey.

Why would the NCAA do anything to endanger their vast bureaucracy when their salaries are being subsidized by us fans who watch games on television networks, go to games and bet on the games? If every team strictly adhered to every NCAA rule, most games would resemble Division II or III games and the elite teams would resemble those in the Ivy League. Would the fans follow the games with the same intensity? The FBI stumbled into this only while investigating an unrelated crime. Only expect a token follow-up by the NCAA to keep up their appearance as a righteous organization. They are really about maintaining the status quo.

The gentlemen of the new regime have been most impressive. One or two pieces left to fit in and the most highly anticipated season in history can get started. Can't wait to see how this team will fare once the actual coaching starts. Kudos to Hoiberg and his staff and ,yes, Bill Moos as well.

Just got around to reading the OWH article and had forgotten about Leif Nelson, although one of my sons once got his autograph at a preseason signing session. On googling his name I discovered this tidbit from the LA Times preseason forecast for the '98-99 season for Washington State: " Center Leif Nelson has used the summer to provide the Cougars with a larger target in the middle by eating his way to over 300 pounds."

It wouldn't be right for a basketball board to ignore the passing of one of basketball's greatest players. John Havlicek played for Ohio State, then for the Celtics for 16 seasons. For those who never saw him play, he was one of the toughest players I ever saw, best in clutch situations, playing through injuries and in any role which would help the team. An automaton on both offense and defense who never seemed to tire, he was the ultimate competitor. Any of today's younger superstars would do well to emulate his off-the-court behavior. R.I.P. indeed.

LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE!!

Azubuike returning to KU for his senior season. His injury history and game make this an entirely different story from Mr. Roby, but I'm betting he would have projected as a slightly higher pick had he chosen the NBA route. So one never knows what influences these kid's decisions and what they will choose to do if not a first round pick.

Keeping up with the offers/visits

And , yes, that's what he said. -
Should be an opportunity for Ed M. to perfect his small forward skills.
-
If things pan out, it will eventually be designated "Fred Hoiberg Court".

did Rosenthal tweet this?

Every Big 10 team needs a big robotic center in the middle to be competitive.

No thanks. I think Larry is still coaching somewhere in Italy though. Dots, checks, and stripes all on the same bench. I hope they were color coordinated.

For a city of 70,000 or so, I would say that with this kid, McDermott, and Harrison Barnes, Ames has one of the best high school basketball talent pools per capita in the US during the past decade. And that is not even counting the Mayor.

I'll see your Fred and raise you a Podrick.
-
Agin',I say agin', this ain't set in stone yet.

By the way, colhusker's DNA Fred was British scientist Frederick Sanger and I liked his glasses for anyone who has maintained the faintest iota of interest in this topic which went off the rails pages ago. I'm a little sorry I started it now because I now find myself lying awake at night as the Freds buzz around the bed. Hopefully if we ever have to hire another basketball coach he will be named something like Podrick which will not prompt as many avatar choices.

This guy stole Bobby Lutz's mustache, or maybe I am just being philosophical about it.
