  1. I wonder if Mr.Moos will make an appearance or whether he will plan to bake a grandchild's birthday cake.
  2. Typical of the NIT first round games I have attended over the years. Third round games get pretty well attended. Crowds are pretty loud though, since everyone wants to be there. Omaha crowd looked pretty good last night but Texas crowd was not big enough to form a posse.
  3. If you have ever hurt your back it is not.
  4. Now someone is going to start a "Fire Water" thread.
  5. "Again, I must say again that redundancy is not necessarily a bad thing again". Doc Sadler
  6. Some people just look older. Like the kid playing for Purdue who looks like he's reaching retirement age.
  7. This thread has certainly helped pass a rainy day. I only hope Russian trolls were not involved trying to spread discontent across the Midwest when Ernie Kent appears.
  8. Busy and pretty troll-free board this rainy morning. One would never guess we play an actual game tomorrow. Hopefully everyone, both players and fans, can just relax and enjoy it. I'm still not totally sure why we decided to play in the NIT if the rumors turn out to be true. There are probably extenuating circumstances which we do not know.
  9. No wonder Sip raises chickens.
  10. This is a message board-we don't need no stinkin' collaboration.
  11. On a more serious note, I have reached a personal conclusion that if Hoiberg does not come, a long-term Miles would be the only acceptable alternative. A perusal of the latest coaching carousel reveals only two possibilities which would be able to surpass UNL in attractiveness to Fred. Texas A&M has more money and a better recent basketball record and recruiting base. But it is still a "football school" and well, it is in College Station Texas. UCLA has the history, money, and location but has been the graveyard of coaches not named Wooden. Thank goodness Hoiberg is a Midwestern guy with Lincoln ties. I would think we have a bona fide shot to get him. So let's just get on with it, one way or the other.
  12. Funny: and I had not seen this before. Definitely more moves than Tim's latest efforts although the pratfall did demonstrate his ability to land on his feet.
  13. OMG! I just realized that an anagram for Bill Moos is Lob-limos. I think I may have found the key to Nebraska's future basketball success!
  14. Just in case no one has noticed, an anagram for Fred Hoiberg is Beg- for- hired. Now that's really eerie.
  15. And don't forget the upcoming mayoral race. Maybe Fred plans on wearing two hats here.
  16. Sort of a depressing thread and board in general today. Much as I would like to pontificate, I will stick with my statement of last week that the AD should have made his call when he gave his momentous (non)statement then and that he should have declined the invitation to the NIT. With that said, now that we are in, let's just roll out the ball and hope we win every game we play in the tournament. It is obvious that nothing will get done regarding next year's team until the season ends and our present players and coaches deserve nothing less that our full support.
  17. ...Nah, it was only a leprechaun. Top o' the morning to ye...
  18. I'll be waiting on pins and needles for the selection program today.....hold on....I think I see a unicorn on the front lawn!...
  19. Thanks, Jimmy. Shooter can sit on the bench so plan on running the old picket fence.
  20. I'll agree with you. What player is going to vote against more games, and I was not fooled by Miles' faux enthusiasm about the prospect. But what do we stand to gain by playing anyone in the NIT? Seniors and walk-ons playing on tired legs and risking injury, for what? Gaining experience for next year, when we don't even know who will be here? Giving some second level program a reason to get pumped up about upsetting an "overrated" Big10 program? Show some class, Moos, and turn the invitation down. Let us remember this group for how they performed at the year's end, decide what you are going to do for next year. Now, let's get working on laying a foundation for succeeding in 2020 and forget the NIT.
  21. Using the NIT as an excuse to postpone any coaching decision was the biggest BS call ever. Any competent AD would have already made the decision, and postponing it only will result on confusing players about returning next year or recruits about reconsidering. Could the team play in the NIT with one of the assistants coaching? Just ask Bo Pelini or Barney Cotton if it would be possible. Any way you cut it, this is just an awkward and embarrassing PR situation. It almost makes it look like the AD is hoping we might get beaten by Creighton to end the year to make letting Miles go more palatable to those who back him.
  22. Obviously he told Miles about the upcoming (non)statement before the game since Tim mentioned it in the postgame presser. Why? This doesn't make sense at all.
  23. Four is more than one or two. Either jump into the pool or get off the diving board.
  24. Welp, I think we can take Turgeon off the list too. Altman (who I never wanted anyway) is out. Ernie Kent now available. Pat Chambers will be at Penn State until he completes his twenty year plan. I think our options are narrowing into two choices now: 1. Extend Miles contract four years or 2. Hire someone who can demonstrably do better. Unless Hoiberg, Self, or Pitino walks through the door, take hard tumbles, and pop back up still smiling, I will opt for door # 1 and see what Green,Roby, etc. can do next year. Just wanted to get this down before today's game regardless of the outcome.
