  1. There are many Jean Pecks out there. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/ncaabk/kansas-ad-jeff-long-apologizes-for-snoop-dogg-performance-at-late-night-in-the-phog/ar-AAIjcoM?ocid=spartandhp
  2. Good luck, when channels disappear they seldom return. Do you live somewhere allo serves? I'll let you know how my changeover goes later this month.
  3. Good. By then I'll have Allo instead of the BTN-less Dish.
  4. I also have this problem until I see this year's Lindy's magazine. It is because almost all of the undergraduates who are memorable go to the pros (like Mr. Roby). Maybe this trend will cease, at least in California, if their new law prevails-and maybe here too if Ernie Chambers gets his way.
  5. I think the trick to enjoying the season will be to savor the good games which we will have while tempering expectations to avoid the letdowns we experienced Saturday when we go up against truly elite teams. The number of victories we have will be secondary to the foundation we build for future success.
  6. Addendum to yesterdays press release: Nebraska announces Ed Weir Stadium will be the temporary home for the gigantic egg being laid tonight.
  7. Okay, for those who were there I have a question. No one can learn much from an exhibition, but I would just like a first impression. Who was the biggest surprise (in skill, body type, demeanor, etc.)and who was the biggest disappointment (same criteria)? This question is not to put any player down or build anyone up because it depends upon what type of image the fan brought to the event based upon media hype and our brief glimpse of the Spain trip (in which all players were not even present. Just pick one player for each category.
  8. In my own unofficial poll of KU alums (including a few not named Jimmy who are large donors) there is a consensus that any major sanctions by the NCAA which would exceed the wrist slaps given to North Carolina and Kentucky in the past will inevitably spark a federal lawsuit by Self and KU against the NCAA. Money has already been pledged for this purpose which has the potential of destroying the archaic NCAA bureaucratic structure and its arbitrarily enforced rules. Don't know if this will ever come to pass-just passing along my feedback.
  9. Norm and Yvan both like escargot?
  10. Perhaps to avoid any awkward questions directed toward him comparing the coaching styles of the old and new regimes?
  11. Sorry to notice the elephant in the room but there is a good chance we could lay another gigantic egg on national tv now. This seems eerily familiar to the last time Gameday was here in 2007 when Will Farrell and USC were our guests. That was the last time my wife accompanied me to a game and since we sat right next to the USC band she had their fight song memorized by halftime it had been played so often. She has not returned to a game since, so if we should win, I will happily certify her as a jinx.
  12. I'm glad we found out some cogent information on the Program here. As far as I knew, James Caan was going to teach a course on how to lay in the middle of a highway at night for the longest. And I hope Cip noted the three periods this time.
  13. Bombastic is my middle name.
  14. I note in the LJS that the basketball team will use this leadership training program which Scott Frost has previously utilized and would think that it can only be another way to help Hoiberg's staff see how this team's unfamiliar players individually respond. I've looked at the website, but wonder if anyone on the board has personal experience of how the program actually works.
  15. I think you are confusing him with Max Murrell. So it's not psychosis, just dementia.
  16. Just caught the Cooz in the1994 Omaha -product Nick Nolte classic "Blue Chip" which I hadn't seen in 25 years. I forgot so many basketball icons were in this movie about the cheating in NCAA basketball back then. (Ironically, Pitino, Boeheim, and Tarkanian all played themselves- also Larry Bird, Penny Hardaway , and a slim Shaq). Thankfully Cousy's medal wasn't based upon his acting proficiency.
  17. Vive la...wait a minute!
  18. Does no one know about "shrinkage" ?
  19. Just to get this straight, I surmise when we refer to the Fenbo it will be anything which happens on the court and we should thank First National Bank of Omaha and when we enter the arena it will still be the Piba and the Pinnacle Bank should occupy our thoughts. Does anyone know how much it costs these financial institutions and how long their sponsorship lasts? I'm trying to decide where to move my checking account. (Will probably be most influenced by whether I want the toaster or the mini-crockpot more).
  20. It doesn't take much time to reverse a sweater vest.
  21. I hope it will not prove to be another "Day which will live in Infamy".
  22. Could we at least get Wayne's monkey? And since we are reminiscing about Super Bowl halftimes, I think Liza Minelli was featured once. My original post was only halfway tongue- in- cheek. Does anyone know who actually is in charge of scheduling entertainment like Rick or the halftime acts at basketball games? And who pays for them?
  23. And Wayne Newton wouldn't come unless they let him bring his monkey...https://www.baynews9.com/fl/tampa/ap-top-news/2019/08/08/wayne-newton-sued-over-monkey-bite-to-girl-visiting-his-home
  24. I just caught Rick Ross on "The View" (and ,no, this is not jimmy-coming-out-day, the wife was watching it). At any rate, he does seem like an unusual choice to initiate Hoiberg's first basketball kickoff event. Does anyone know who was in charge of lining up the musical guest? Was it the coach, the team, the UNL brass, the Pinnacle brass, Moos, Les Miles, Tim Miles, the rebounders...? Or was it just because Rick happened to be available for the right price and wanted some more publicity for his new autobiography? Just wondering? Does anyone know how many tunes he will be allowed to croon? Will the announcer be allowed to give Jean adequate warning regarding when to apply her ear plugs? And I did learn from Whoopie's insightful interview that Rick's Dad was a college professor and his Mom was a nurse. He also has a lot of sweet tattoos.
