  2. Nice find, Matt. The kind of pop trivia I love. Those also in Blue Chips with tenuous Nebraska HHC mentions are: Dan Dakich, Bobby Hurley, Nolan Richardson, and of, course, the star, Nick Nolte who played high school football in Omaha for both Benson and Westside.
  3. just got around to catching up on this thread. Nice stories.
  4. Moe Iba can hardly wait until Saturday.
  5. Not sure this needed a separate thread so I'll just put it here. Sipple column in LJS this morning sort of gives rationale for why Lue may not fit in with Moos' criteria. Pretty much BS stuff, but as non-official spokesman for UNL, it is certainly not a ringing endorsement by Sip. And for those who read the editorial page, the LJS board of editors gave a nice sendoff to Tim Miles today.
  6. Let's just examine this rationally. Why would anyone send a jet to Fayetteville from Lincoln for any reason at all? And if ESPN puts the fact on a trailer that Nebraska is negotiating with Hoiberg, that type of cutting edge journalism seals the deal.
  7. Nolan Richardson may also be available . But at his age he can only promise 20 minutes of hell.
  8. I didn't even realize there was a transfer portal. Sounds like something from Star Trek.
  9. Nothing wrong with Manhattan, a lot of nice people and we bought our first house there. But no comparison to Lincoln when it comes to available amenities.
  10. Iowa State/Ames=Kansas State/Manhattan
  11. Might be last chance for a reread of Winter's book or maybe getting a copy autographed. https://journalstar.com/entertainment/books/review-nebrasketball-by-scott-winter/article_6c6ac9a8-8738-52ff-b77c-04f7762cc8b9.html
  12. I'm sure it is all about the green.
  13. Congrats, Nebrasketball1979, spend your money wisely.
  14. Does this mean we are out of bounds?
  15. With Copeland, I don't think it would have been "woefully". Nevertheless, we did fall short of expectations. I hope HHC has someone checking the passenger list of planes, trains, and automobiles into Lincoln. I think we deserve to be among the first to know about any change in the basketball landscape here.
  16. Didn't run out of fight, just ran out of bullets. A memorable season, even if it didn't go the way we all wanted. To paraphrase a Zen saying: We didn't get the life we wanted, but we do have the life we have. Last night's viewing experience made me sure of one thing: I do NOT want the new court to be a white one! And Moonlight says "Welcome to baseball season".
  17. Weighing the monetary value of one more year as a pro vs the value of a college degree (which can always be picked up later) it is difficult to justify staying if you are a first round pick. Therefore intangibles which we can not project would make the difference since we don't know how much the pro grind of constant travel, instability of life on the road, financial needs of the family, etc. will play into his choice. Although as fans we all hope he falls to a second round choice and stays next year, in reality we will all be happy for him and wish him success if he decides to move on.
  18. You just know the villain in any good slasher movie is going to be back.
  19. Azubuike, De Souza and Vick would have probably made a difference. And speaking of cheaters, how about that Bruce Pearl? At least I picked Auburn in my bracket, so I had that going. And the game was so bad that I was able to take in the final episode of year three of "Justified" that I missed on the first go around. (The game was more brutal than the episode).
  20. This is beginning to sound like a Roburt Sallie thing-now you got him...and then you don't.
  21. LaSalle- once won the NCAA with Tom Gola, and Lionel Hollins still stars in a commercial for a decongestant.
  22. Probably worth mentioning on the carousel thread: Phil Martelli out at St. Joseph's after 24 years. Fired, although he had a popular radio show, was coach of the year once, and was rather popular in Philly as an unapologetic supporter of liberal causes. He was also beaten in the finals of the NIT by Danny Nee the year Nebraska won it. Even legends can lose their luster with not enough "W"s. And while we are talking Big Five basketball, Fran Dunphy (a John Chaney product) retired at Temple after the Belmont loss.
  23. Well done to everyone who was at the arena last night. Players, coaches, and fans all represented Nebraska admirably. I can visualize this ending with Miles getting a less stressful job at a mid major and becoming a basketball version of Frank Solich. If Hoiberg is indeed coming, he has to be impressed by what he saw last night. Although I wish we had made the NCAA, the major cause of our downfall was an unavoidable injury and whatever happens at TCU will not make me remember this season unpleasantly.
  24. TCU 72 NU 62 We would beat them at home though
  25. The Thorminator rules!
