2022 F Isaac Traudt - Virginia->Creighton
kldm64 replied to Navin R. Johnson's topic in Husker Hoops Recruiting
I'm hearing he is planning on committing to CU as early as tonight. His high school coaches and parents want him to come to NU but his girlfriend is wanting him to come to CU instead. -
If we had replay's the entire game, games would be 4 hours long. I understand your point as I always find it funny that something can happen at 2:01 left in the game and they can't review it but it if happens 2 seconds later, they can review it.

Well, we didn't raise you right if you don't hate Creighton :)

Total valid question as it's difficult to keep paying the donation and cost of season tickets when the kids that are here are already looking ahead to where they can go to get a better deal. There is absolutely no difference between college and pro sports now other than the college athletics are younger. I was so against NIL as knew once we went down this path, it would totally ruin what we all loved in college athletics. With this younger generation, it's just never enough. They always want more. I have been a die hard NU hoops fans for several decades but makes it harder and harder to continue to pay to go watch kids that are only here until they can get more money somewhere else. And what's more sad it NIL is just starting so the money and effect it will have will only get worse. Basically, that is the only way to recruit is tell the kid how much money you will pay him. My, how times have changed and not for the better.

I didn't see any leadership qualities from him but think he had potential to be a good player for us. He showed flashes but needed more consistency. Hate to lose Freshman but that is the world today. You start 6 games at a freshman at a Big 10 school and still not good enough for you. In today's world, your lucky if you get a kid to stay for even 2 years. Sad times.

This is alot of the problem with Nebraska basketball is no expectations. We absolutely should have expectations and we'll continue being a below average basketball program until that changes. -

It's to the point where if we aren't in post season next season, it might be time to re-evaluate if Fred is the guy to continue to lead this program forward or not. -

His girlfriend attends Creighton so could easily see him ending up there. -
That is a totally fair question and the answer in NO. We were not a great offensive team with our previous lineup and with injuries, we were forced to play guys that are much better on the offensive end of the floor while still giving full effort on the defensive end. I think Fred is finally getting back to how he likes to coach as previous seasons, it seemed like there was conflicts in philosophy with assistants on best way to coach and win games. You can see they are all on the same page. You can't win gave based on playing defensive only. We finally have a lineup that can score which was lacking earlier. I 100% tip my hat to the coaching staff as well as the entire roster (including Bandoumel and Gary) for this season and watching this team and coaching staff evolve to what it is today. Extremely impressive

If our 1-2 punch down low next year is Keita/Oleg, we are going to be in trouble. Keita is a nice defender and rebounder but doesn't have much for an offensive game at all. Oleg is a role player at best unless he has a massive improvement between this year and next year.

Not sure why anyone would hate that comparison as Kalkbrenner is an all conference kind of player. I totally hate Creighton but recognize the talent they have on their team.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 15, ed 29: Minnesota
kldm64 replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Another win against Minnesota (or any bottom feeder teams in conference) isn't going to move the NIT needle. There is more downside to playing in the first day than upside. -
I listened to John Bishop for about 10 minutes once calling a Creighton game and had to immediately shut it off. He has to be one of the worst ever to call games on the radio. Everything you said it 100% accurate. My brother is a huge CU fan and even he can't stand listing to John Bishop. He said he's rather not listen to game at all rather than have to listen to him. I'd rather hear fingernails across a chalkboard than have to listen to 1 second of him announcing a game.

Interesting comments from people as I always listen to Kent's pregame and postgame show on my drive to PBA but had no idea that so people still listened to him during the game while watching it on TV. Kent and Jake do a great job but I just assumed that not many people listened to his actual game broadcast. I've had to listen to Kent a few times in the past and he does an outstanding job. Very cool that so many people still listen to him.
-
No disrespect to Kent but does any really listen to him on the radio instead of just watching the game on TV?
-
Why??? He is correct as those are names to keep an eye on since could potentially transfer.

I'm sure we all wondered what the season would have been like to have a complete roster the entire year. But like you mentioned, Keisei would not be playing at this level if some of the injuries didn't happen. He finally was able to get some more minutes and grow into the player he currently is instead of getting a quick nod to the bench after a bad shot. You nailed it as it has been a very interesting ride and might actually be beneficial to us next year.

And we have won 10 games or more in 2 straight seasons. Maybe we are on our way to replacing NC as a blue blood.

Just have to go 3-1 in our final games to give yourself a shot at it.
