Not sure why anyone would hate that comparison as Kalkbrenner is an all conference kind of player. I totally hate Creighton but recognize the talent they have on their team.

uneblinstu's postgame chatter: vol 15, ed 29: Minnesota
kldm64 replied to HuskerFever's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Another win against Minnesota (or any bottom feeder teams in conference) isn't going to move the NIT needle. There is more downside to playing in the first day than upside. -
I listened to John Bishop for about 10 minutes once calling a Creighton game and had to immediately shut it off. He has to be one of the worst ever to call games on the radio. Everything you said it 100% accurate. My brother is a huge CU fan and even he can't stand listing to John Bishop. He said he's rather not listen to game at all rather than have to listen to him. I'd rather hear fingernails across a chalkboard than have to listen to 1 second of him announcing a game.

Interesting comments from people as I always listen to Kent's pregame and postgame show on my drive to PBA but had no idea that so people still listened to him during the game while watching it on TV. Kent and Jake do a great job but I just assumed that not many people listened to his actual game broadcast. I've had to listen to Kent a few times in the past and he does an outstanding job. Very cool that so many people still listen to him.

No disrespect to Kent but does any really listen to him on the radio instead of just watching the game on TV?
-
Why??? He is correct as those are names to keep an eye on since could potentially transfer.

I'm sure we all wondered what the season would have been like to have a complete roster the entire year. But like you mentioned, Keisei would not be playing at this level if some of the injuries didn't happen. He finally was able to get some more minutes and grow into the player he currently is instead of getting a quick nod to the bench after a bad shot. You nailed it as it has been a very interesting ride and might actually be beneficial to us next year.

And we have won 10 games or more in 2 straight seasons. Maybe we are on our way to replacing NC as a blue blood.

Just have to go 3-1 in our final games to give yourself a shot at it. -
USC & UCLA TO JOIN BIG TEN (beginning 2024)!
kldm64 replied to Red Don's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Sure seems like NU fans have a bigger grudge against Texas than the other way around. Texas could really care less about Nebraska as they still has built in rivalry's like OU but Nebraska doesn't have any anymore. So people in this state still make a huge deal out of hating Texas and living in the past. -

That is not entirely true. Texas didn't say we get $25 million and everyone else gets less. The Big 12 policy was the TV contract with Fox is equally spit however, if your school generates additional revenue outside the Fox contract, then that particular school gets to keep that money. Thus why Texas was getting paid more. No one is saying NU or the Big 8 needed Texas but the conference asked them and other school to join. It was obviously a blow to NU's ego that Texas was dominating NU in football. There was a time when the Big 12 looked like it might collapse so NU was lucky enough to get an invite to join the Big 10 and they accepted. It was probably the right move for NU to make at that time but hard to point a finger that Texas is the reason. -

Interesting if that will be good enough for NIT with our NET ranking being around 100 at the moment -
USC & UCLA TO JOIN BIG TEN (beginning 2024)!

This is a very well thought out statement and 100% accurate. And it didn't help that Nebraska couldn't beat Texas in Football that just added salt into the wound. Great post!!! -

Again, how did they push Arkansas out as well as push NU and Missouri out. Those schools all chose to leave on their own. Texas didn't do mandate those schools leave. Each school made the decision what they thought was in their best interest. Not sure Texas is to blame for that. You might not like Texas and that's fine but can't say they forced NU or any other school to leave the conference. -

I can't help you either if you have no reasons. They joined the conference and dominated Nebraska and people here didn't like it. All I hear is we had to move the conference championship game to Texas which was the right move. Beyond that, everything else is just speculation and sour grapes. Nebraska liked it when it was the top dog in conference and once Texas joined and beat Nebraska all the time, everyone hated Texas and blamed them all for all the problems. -

Exactly how did Texas ruin the Big 8 and Big 12? -
What are your thoughts?

Just curious why everyone automatically thinks Ramel Lloyd will transfer after this season?
-
Decision has been made that they aren't going to pull Lloyd's redshirt and Sam Hoiberg will be 3rd guard if needed

I vote we just delete this thread before everyone gets their panties in a bunch.

unelinstu's postgame chatter: vol 15, ed 19: Ohio State
kldm64 replied to uneblinstu's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
Totally agree on the crowd as it was a very small crowd but they were louder and more into the game than sometimes when we have 10,000 people there. Absolutely fun game to be at. -
Not saying he would have done the same thing here as he is at K-State. All I'm saying is I know for sure he was coming to Nebraska. I even know the apartment they showed him and he was 100% planning to attend Nebraska before he didn't pass our physical requirements.

What's done is done and I could argue both sides on whether Miles should have been let go or not. Keep in mind that Miles was here 7 years and he made post season in 3 of them with 1 NCAA appearance and 2 in the NIT. However, it really should have been 2 NCAA appearances as we won 22 games and went 13-5 in conference and ended up in NIT. Either way, that is about half his time here, he made it to post season. Assuming most people would take that at this point. And let's not forget that No-Sit Sunday happened under his watch. One of my favorite quotes from Tim after he was hired was that if the person behind you tells you to sit down, you just tell him Coach Miles said I don't have to. Like Tim or not, he was the one and only coach who made it cool to be a Nebraska Basketball fan
