But also Doc played about as soft of non-conference schedule as he could get every year whereas Miles doesn't do that.

His seat is not even remotely warm. He's been here only 3 years and we've made the NCAA tournament 33% of the time he's been here so far. We hadn't even made the Big Dance in like that last 15 years and he will also have 3 four star recruits on the rooster next year. Who in their right mind would fire him or even think of firing him at this point or even next year??? Based on what he started with, you have to give him at least 5 years and then if we still aren't making post season, he will be on the "hot" seat.

I think we need shooters more than a big right now. You can double down on a big anytime you want if he doesn't have a good shooter to kick it out to. There are lots of teams that don't have a true center anymore and just have guys 6' 8" or 6' 9" as their biggest guy on the court. We need guys with a scoring mentality no matter what size they are.

I hate to say it but I give up.....

Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor???.......And it ain't over now. -
I do agree that Benny is horrible in transition and need to either dish it or pull it back out. If he could draw contact and get fouled, that would be one thing but he doesn't. He just ends up getting it blocked or turning it over. And when you are a team that is scoring challenged like we are, every possession counts.

I believe he is out for the season

Look... you can use that excuse as it is the easy way to take the "We would have lost anyways" approach. The problem with this is simple. You do realize that one of the worst calls hasn't even been mentioned... the "And 1" that was called "on the floor" against Webster. We get that and it puts us at 16... They call the very next play a block against Wisconsin instead of a charge... Petteway hits them both... 27-18 doesn't look quite as bad does it. What was the score with 1:20 left again? 58-53 You add those 5 points and guess what... our comeback ties the game and it is a completely different game in the last seconds. EVERY bad call counts and it effects the outcome of the game, and those two to end the first half are a BIG reason why we lost the game I agree and understand but the ref could have also given Petteway a Technical and tossed him from the game for putting his hands on him. I don't think the ref'ing was great but don't believe that is why we lost the game either. We would have lost even with good ref's as we just didn't play well enough to win.

They are an incredible basketball team and have been my pick even before the season started to win it all and they have done nothing to change my mind. I'd love to see them and Kentucky in the finals as I think they are the 2 best teams this season.

Not saying the ref'ing was good by any stretch but I can't even begin to point my finger in that direction when we only scored 13 points yet again in the first half.

Lee B with an excellent article on Terran Pettaway

Winning will get you more attention than just individual scoring. My guess is Terran would trade a Big 10 scoring title to get a win in the NCAA tournament. I would think with the talent next year would make him want to stay and play with better players. He will still get his points and we could be more competitive. Terran is more concerned with winning than he is his scoring average. -
I'm planning on standing the entire game this year against Wisconsin again. Worked last year so if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If someone behind me tells me to sit down, I'm just going to reply that Coach Miles said I don't have to.

So you don't think there should have been any preseason hype? You make the NCAA tournament last season and basically have your entire team returning along with a 1st team All-Conference player and you don't think this year has been disappointing? I'm very disappointed in our offensive production this season and the heart of this team. No doubt, last year was a magical ride but if you can't built on it the following season with the same players, then we might as well just kept Doc Sadler and not have any expectations or hype each year.

I'm wondering at this point if we will even be an NIT team this season? The backend of our schedule is much tougher than the front end and we are only 12-9 at this point. Even if we go .500 the rest of the way, that won't get us in the NIT. This might be the most disappointing basketball season I have been apart of.

uneblinstu's Post Game Chatter: ed 7, vol 20 - Michigan

That is not true of everyone on this team. -
Basically all you have to do as a shooter anymore is fall down and sell it like you got touched and the ref will give you the call.

Why could Nebraska not get him?

Glad this play happened after many people had left already. Serves the right for leaving before the game was over and not getting to see it. -
Which players would you consider "true points"? Which players who play point would you not consider "true points"? I ask because I might or might not agree with you depending on who you're calling a true point. Smith and Parker. Not sure on Watson yet. How do you not consider Watson a true Point Guard?
-
I still have nightmares about that!!!
-
Interesting as the name of the school doesn't get you to the NBA, talent does. It doesn't matter what school you play at, if your good enough, the league will find you.
-
According the link you provided from Rivals, he doesn't even have NU listed as a school he is considering. Hope it's due to they just don't have it updated.

Watson is not redshirting. He's the 8th best point guard in his class. wouldn't be surprised if he was a starterBut if you save him a year, he can play as Starter/Back up as freshmen with one team mate who will be a junior meaning Watson could be a starter for at least two years. You don't redshirt Watson to play Parker for a year???? That doesn't accomplish anything. I would image that Watson and Smith will share the PG duties next year and Parker will go back to getting 10 minutes or less a game. Can't see any reason to play him much more than that if Watson turns out to be as good as advertised. No way a senior who has played all 4 years will get 10 minutes or less a game. Now 20+ minutes is also a stretch, but no way he goes from key role player to starter and then poof benchwarmer. If the talent coming in is better than him he will...... I think most people agree that Smith has closed the gab on Parker and in my opinion should be getting more minutes then Penny. I can assume that Smith will move ahead of Parker by next season and if Watson is as good as we all hope he is, then he probably quickly moves ahead of Benny which drops he down to 3rd in the PG rotation. Most people in that position get around 10 minutes a game or so. I think there will be games he plays more minutes and some games less but anticipating that is about the average he will get per game. That leaves 15 minutes each for Watson and Smith which seems about right.

Akoy cancelled his official visit to Nebraska. Signs aren't looking good he will come here.
