Without question, if Agau wants to come to NU, they will make room for him.
-
I don't think Miles wants to play a "grind it out" style but more he is forced to this year.
-
You heard from players and coaches that the "practice" team would dominate in practice the year when Terran and Walter were redshirting. I would take the 2014/15 any day in this matchup.

NEITHER

It's not even close to the talent we have now vs. Doc's tenure. And look at the future of the program. We have Andrew White III (4 star), Ed Marrow (4 star) and Glynn Watson (4 star) all sitting in the wings next year. When is the last time, we've had three 4-star players coming in???? Like never..... And possible we could land Agau yet which would give us another 4 star player. If you look at the program Miles was left with, it's absolutely amazing what he has been able to accomplish in such a short time. Even if we have a down year, the program appears to be in great shape moving forward.

This is one of the biggest issues I think we are struggling with this year. Miles relied on Coach Smith a lot last year. You can just sense things are not clicking out on the floor and with the coaching staff. We bring in Coach Molinari and our defense has been horrible so far. I'm not pointing the finger directly at him but just shows what Coach Smith did for this program. The lose of him cannot be stressed enough The other issue it seems is Petteway is trying way to hard to impress NBA scouts. Based on his play and attitude, I don't see him getting drafted. The kid is very talented but can't play street ball and expect good results at this level. He is killing our offensive flow as when he's in the game, he likes to keep the ball in his hands until the shot clock is running down and then may times, takes a bad shot. Problem is the rest of the players just end up standing around watching instead of running any kind of offense. So then when they take Petteway out, the players still stand around as they is the mode they have gotten used to. If Petteway would quit trying to play so much one-on-one and played within the offense, he would find that he would still get his points and shoot a higher percentage. If I was scouting to play NU right now, I would just tell the player guarding him to get in Petteway's face as much as you can as you know he will lose his cool at some point. I'm guessing Petteway will be back next year which may or may not be a good thing.

Semi Ojeleye, Soph at Duke looking to transfer

Don't care where he ends up as long at it's not Creighton!!! -
Looks like we are on the outside looking in again. Didn't take us long to go from a projected 6 seed to not even in the tournament. Really sad thing is that CU is projected higher than we are and they have played a worse non-conference schedule than we have. We are putting ourselves in the same position we did last year where we are going to have to go on a winning streak in conference to get back in. Winning the tournament in Hawaii would go a long ways to padding our resume. http://www.bracketmatrix.com/

Post Game Chatter: ed 7, vol 8 - Incarnate Word

I actually thought we play the best team basketball we had all season. We had balanced scoring and Terran played within the offense. Silly mistakes down the stretch were head scratching but overall, I thought we looked the best we had all year on the offensive side of the ball at least. -
Have you seen Fuller play defense? It's not good. He's better off on the bench for the time being. Elaborate please. He hasn't seen the floor since he checked in for one minute against UNO. Have you seen him somewhere other than in games? I have the same sample size you do but based on what I've seen of him in the exhibition game and the limited minutes this year, he still looks slow and lost out there. I do wish Miles would have gotten him some "mop up" minutes during the season and let this guy get a little more game experience but don't think he's ready for major minutes yet. We sure could use a deadly shooter and if Miles thought he was ready, he would have used him by now. Your last line there, if coach thought he was ready/would've used him by now...don't know if this is entirely true. Again, the turf toe injury. It's really slowing him and his knocks against him have been his speed and that he's somewhat of a tweener. We heard plenty heading into the year about Fuller's improvement. I heard enough anyway to speculate that Fuller was ready to contribute in some way this year. It's possible that Miles feels he's ready to get some minutes but just can't afford to in key spot minutes (due to injury) and it doesn't make sense to strain the injury just to give him some extended mop up time. It's unfortunate, the injury, but it's my speculation that if Fuller was full go that Miles would've worked him into some games, prepping him for key spot minutes down the road this season at minimum. Turf toe sucks real bad, especially with the amount of cutting and stopping required for basketball. I think this debate has more to do with the injury than Fuller being "ready" to play. Good points as turf toe is a nagging and painful injury. We would really use a deadly spot up shooter like him so hope your assessment is correct. Would love to see him be the guy that we can kick it out to and consistently knock down a three. We just don't have a guy like that right now. Hope his toe heals up soon.

I stood the entire game and if people behind me didn't like it, they could stand up and cheer with me.

i love it, it immediatly creates a spacing dynamic for shields and petteway, and creates a better match up for our bench. And with it I'm not even saying to play Moses much more than he's playing now. Like Manu Ginobili I think Walt could be deadly off the bench, still getting the lions share of minutes in the post. But by having him off the bench it gives the second unit Tai, Walt, and Tarin some great scoring options. Tai looked way more comfortable in that role has the first guy off the bench, Benny didnt seemed that affected either still just doing benny things that he always does. The Lineup we had out there showed they could hold off a run, induce a secondary run, and than hold a lead, and looked to mesh with the exception of walt, but think i move to the bench may cure that. This allows Terran, and Shavon to get rolling as the primary scorers, Moses, David, Benny to kickstart the defensive identity than your bring the scoring punch in and go for the throat...i like it. How exactly did Tai look more comfortable coming off the bench? He played good the second half but not the first half so don't think coming off the bench had any effect either way. As for the starting lineup, not sure it really had any impact as we still got off to a slow start. We gave up 21 points in the first 5 minutes so not sure how this "new" lineup shows it can hold off a run. Regardless of Benny or Tai starts, we need to find a way to not dig a hole at the beginning of the game and try to crawl out of it or we will lose more games this year than we want to. -
I have to disagree. The value of being ranked is you get national exposure with ESPN scrolling top 25 scores on bottom of screen or nation media always reporting top 25 scores and information. I agree that the ranking don't really mean anything as its just some people's perception but it does help keep your program in the national spotlight which can help with recruiting.
-
We haven't looked like a Top 25 team all year. I think there are players on this team who are going with Hype over Heart instead of the other way around. Hopefully that will change as the season goes on and these players realize you can't sleepwalk through games now. I hope the Rhode Island lose will be a good thing for this team long term.

Bracket Matrix has us as an early #6 seed. Now we just have to win a lot of games to earn that spot http://www.bracketmatrix.com/

Uneblinstu's Post-game Chatter, Forward to the ____ edition

I was there and sure didn't look like over 10,000 people there. It was so scattered out that hard to tell but sure looked closer to 7,000 or maybe 8,000 people. Either way, pretty decent crowd for exhibition game. From the box score: 10314 Actual Attendance 15366 Tickets Sold I'd agree that it looked less than 10k though since they're scanning these things with barcode readers I'm not sure why it would be inaccurate. I don't know why the actual attendance would be inaccurate either. I think it's hard to judge in that building though. There were quite a few holes in the lower bowl. From my perspective, looking up through the smoke, it seemed like the 2nd and 3rd decks were pretty full (maybe 75%). When I initially saw the 10,314 number, I thought it seemed high, but my conclusion is that it's hard to judge at PBA. They do scan the tickets so it should be accurate. I totally agree it is hard to judge in the building. I could guess pretty close over at Devaney but can't seem to guess at PBA. Just always looks like there are a lot less people than their really are. That for the confirmation. -

I'm prediction NU will finish the regular season with record of 22-7 W - Northern Kentucky W - Central Arkanasa W - Rhode Island W - UNO W - Tennessee Martin L - Florida State W - Creighton (I was this to be a huge blow out) W - Incarnate Word W - Cincinnati W - Hawaii W - 2nd round tournament W - Championship game W - Indiana L - Iowa W - Rutgers W - Illinois L - Wisconsin W - Minnesota L - Michigan State L - Michigan L - Minnesota W - Northwestern W - Penn State W - Wisconsin W - Purdue L - Maryland W - Iowa W - Ohio State L - Illinois W - Maryland

Since it doen't count as an official game, kids who are considering redshirting can still play in exhibition game and still redshirt for the season.

By the way, whoever told Connie Yori ...
kldm64 replied to Norm Peterson's topic in The Haymarket Hardwood
no other Nebraska men's or women's basketball players had ever gone to 4 straight NCAA tournaments .....In two different conferences Tim added the "two different conferences" part. Connie continued to repeat that her seniors had a chance to do something -- go to 4 NCAA tourneys -- that no other Husker players, men's or women's, had ever done before. And that's just not correct. I was there last night and think she said that no other woman's team had ever done that. I don't think she was including the men's program. So, when she said "men's OR women's" you think she was just referring to ... what exactly? Calm down as that is why I said I "THINK" she only said the woman's team. I didn't hear her refer to the men's team as part of her comment. If she did, then she is incorrect. -

We are just the opposite. Have Tickets but no parking permit as of yet. Same here. I got my tickets and ordered a season parking pass online from one of the city parking lots. I got a receipt but didn't know if I just use my receipt to get into the lot for each game or if they will send me individual parking passes to get in the lot for each game? It's the lot about 4 blocks to the south of PBA on Canapy street and not a parking garage.
