    Runzas at PBA

I talked to them. With a purchase of a drink and fries I can get you a free runza today. Tell them the HHC sent you.

  2. I had us at 10-8 when it started, and I'm stickin' with it. ( until that's mathematically impossible or I sober up)

I love RunzasTM. I'm glad they have them at PBA. Now, I can buy a few from a reputable establishment on the way to the arena and smuggle them past the wand wavers and purse checkers and eat them at my leisure without any ushers questioning it. (Hey, that guy has a RunzaTM. Oh, yeah, we're selling them now.) I love RunzasTM. And RunzaTM isn't paying me to say it (though I think they should.)

I would love to see your purse collection. Do you have a red Prada or Hilde Palladino bag? Oh, I have no fear of the purse checkers since I don't carry a bag. But, given my natural girth and the fact that I must, therefore, wear a rather large coat (one with ample inside pockets) I am able to conceal objects up to the size of a small grand piano in my parka. I was tempted to try to smuggle a nice selection of artisan cheeses, various charcuterie, and a nice bottle of cabernet, but, alas, I figured the overzealous ushers would instantly recognize such repast as not being among the items regularly offered for sale within the PBA. So, imagine my delight upon learning that RunzasTM are going to once again be available at Nebraska basketball games. I literally jumped for joy (to the extent that what I accomplish in thrusting my carcass almost imperceptibly off the ground can be described as "jumping.") Not to mention, Norm, that you would probably be quickly mistaken for a Creighton fan and would raise more than one eyebrow with your wine and cheese selections.

  5. I think Shields is having a hard adjusting to his new teammates. Last year, the team shared the ball a little better and he benefitted. He doesn't seem to be the kind of vocal guy that would scream at his opponents to feed him the ball, so he gets lost at times. I suspect his confidence has taken a bit of a hit as a result.

  6. Michigan? They don't do much wrong Losses at Duke, at Iowa St, at Charlotte, and one other loss, forget who to When you look at them, 7-4/8-4 doesn't seem great But their SoS is near the top in the country Losing McGary hurts them, good shot blocker But their other bigs are matching his stat production They're a heck of a team Lost Burke, but younger players are coming along well Albrecht had 18 pts in 1st half of national championship game, only playing 14 min a game this year Mich very deep in talent, will be great late in year Tough schedule & injuries are messing up their dynamic now Mich is going to get better & better, we need to play well to beat them Tempo? Mich is technically the slowest team in the league in terms of possessions per game We'll prob be about where we've been, 60-65 possessions per game Don't want 70+, they make too many 3s and are too good in transition Mental hurdles with tough games? Just talk about process Try to get better every day, every game Comeback vs Iowa showed our resiliance That's what made the OSU game so disappointing Couldn't rise above how difficult it was to score Played like a disappointed group Last few minutes put a lot of subs in, part of why score ended up where it was Have to talk about our mental toughness to stick with it and stay in it Life works that way, you'll have some tough times We can't just put our heads down & accept defeat, I think we did that a little bit Can't wait for Michigan, good to get some home cooking We don't intend to let Michigan be the first team to come into Pinnacle and win That's it for tonight - full show/full hour next week

    Runzas at PBA

Runza™ is a tasty treat. But, it's not nearly as good unless you combine your order of a Cheese® Runza™ with an order of Frings© and an ice cold Coca-Cola™®...or is it Pepsi™ that they sell? Mostly I just like doing this: ™®© Pepsi products at Runza. Mentioning Frings makes me hungry; that's some quality food. And I can't figger out the marks. My go-to options are the double cheeseburger meal with Frings and DIET Mountain Dew (large size, of course) and the cheese runza meal with the same side dish and drink.

They're advertised all over the ribbon board, and I was SHOCKED when I went to get one and they said NO DICE. Thank God this oversight has been corrected.

The incompetance of the PBA concessions officials was responsible. Wouldn't even return Runza's calls. They finally figured out Nebraskans want the product as an option.

    6-12 In the Big 10

We won 5 games last year. We are more talented this year. The Big Ten is not as tough as it was last year. Our schedule appears easier at this point. We shouldn't win fewer than 6 games, in my opinion. I would actually consider that a massive letdown, not that I'd be calling for anyone's job. But I would just be really disappointed.

I think he might make being a starter a permanent gig, despite his wishes. He's just too valuable to not start.

  14. Maybe it's the coffee I'm drinking, but looking at our schedule, I'm feeling a little optimistic right now, even though I don't think our team is particularly good. But we're certainly capable. I see more winnable games in the Big Ten than I ever have before: vs. Michigan at Purdue at Penn State vs. Minnesota vs. Indiana at Northwestern vs. Illinois vs. Penn State vs. Purdue vs. Northwestern This is 10 games that I think we legitimately have a shot to win if we can figure out how to play for 40 minutes. Now, by no means am I saying we'll go 10-8. But even with 4 losses in this group of games, we'd still get to 6-12, and that's without even a big upset at home that we tend to get. If we miraculously won all 10 of these games, that would be 7-2 at home (losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State) and 3-6 on the road. I know this won't happen, but our schedule after this brutal start really does set up nicely, and there is a distinct separation between the best teams in the Big Ten and the worst teams. I'd say Ohio State, Wisconsin and Michigan State are in a class by themselves. Illinois (gaudy record with an easy schedule), Michigan and Iowa fall behind them. Minnesota, Indiana, Purdue, Penn State, Nebraska and Northwestern, none of those teams is that scary this year, in my opinion. We get to play each of the last group at home and have a total of 9 games against those 5 teams. We are definitely not a great team, but I don't believe a lot separates us from finishing 12th and finishing 8th. (Probably just a big man, unfortunately).

  15. 2 years ago Mike Fox was playing significant minutes. Good kid but B1G 10 player? I'd like to think we're 2 years closer than 2 years ago which was not even close

  16. Or it could be that people just want to listen to Miles. I don't know. People don't always have questions. I have gone to events where he's spoken just for the entertainment value. By the way, props to Greg Sharpe. I think he's done a terrific job on Sports Nightly. I don't listen to it much. Got out of the habit when John Bishop took over and, frankly, there hasn't been a compelling host since. Lane Grindel was at least a nice guy even if he was a bit dull. But -- and no offense to Jeff Culhane -- Culhane I just couldn't listen to. His sort of artificial "radio voice" thing, no real inspiring commentary, failure to engage callers in discussion, how he seemed to think he had to hedge every position he took by sort of arguing the contrary. Just ... couldn't listen. But, tonight, for example, I caught some of Greg Sharpe doing the show before the Miles hour and he just seems to know how to do it. How to keep it interesting. Talked a little bit about the Nebraska football program looking for a new assistant. Talked about some of the bowl games. Actually expressed some opinions. Just made it more interesting all the way around. Again, I'm not a regular but if Greg is the regular host now, I might tune back in more frequently.

    6-12 In the Big 10

Shields is missing an incredible number of contested lay ups. If you watch him he dribbles into the lane pretty much hunched over reducing his 6'7 size to about 6'2 or so and he does not elevate at all. He simply throws it up towards the rim and misses it or gets stuffed. He doesn't double pump and he doesn't lay if up on the other side of the rim. Webster has same problem but did double pump in OSU game so he's learning.

  19. The test is if we have some adversity, do we fight back like we did against Iowa, or sort of fold like we did against Ohio. I am not really saying that in a negative light, it was a tale of two different teams though. I hope we maintain the fighting spirit, that will certainly bode well in the long run.
