Michigan Info
Head Coach: Dusty May (1st Season)
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Conference: B1G
Nickname: Wolverines
Shirt not to wear: Blue, Maize, Corn-based
Line: Michigan by -1.5
Last Time Out: Lost to Michigan St
Typical Rotation Depth: 7+
KenPom rank: 24
Nota bene:
- Brice Williams is 22 points away from 1,000 pts in a Husker uniform. He would be the 32nd Husker to accomplish this feat all-time
- Michigan coach Dusty May got his start as a student manager under Bobby Knight (Michigan recently juiced the contract of this first year coach after Indiana's position became open). May experienced a complete breakout two years ago when he lead Florida Atlantic to the Final 4
- This lengthy Michigan roster ranks 5th on KenPom's average height metric
- Despite his father being fired, Jace Howard has remained on the team though he only plays in extreme blowouts
- Speaking of famous dads, Scottie Pippen's son Justin is on team
- Freshman Durral Brooks goes by his nickname "Phat Phat" Brooks
- A 5th win here over a ranked team would break the school record for wins over ranked teams in a season (4)
Player to watch: Vladislav Goldin
The big Russian center has been the centerpiece to May's success and he anchors the Michigan offense and defense. Goldin blocks shots, rebounds, gets to the line, and currently ranks 12th in KenPom's True Shooting % stat. Goldin even has developed the green light to take the occasional 3pt shot.
Player to watch: Danny Wolf
Michigan has the luxury of playing two 7 foot players as Wolf's ability to shoot from outside and pass makes it viable to play two posts players in today's game. Speaking of luxury, Goldin's rebound numbers are down because he has to compete with Wolf.

Auburn transfer PG Tre Donaldson is one of two main 3pts threats (40%) on the roster though can be turnover prone. Roster holdover guard Nimari Burnett is your other long range threat, shooting 42.6% from 3. Ohio St transfer Roddy Gayle and North Texas transfer Rubin Jones are mostly a timeshare at the 3. Neither Gayle nor Jones are shooting at a high clip from anywhere though Gayle is the aggressor, especially at the rim whereas Jones plays more of a glue guy-defender role. Super efficient forward Will Tschetter (pronounced cheddar) is still there backing up at the 4. EDIT: Stretch 4 Alabama transfer Sam Walters will miss his 4th straight game with a back injury. Freshman guards Justin Pippen and LJ Cason play spot minutes at the guard spot

The Skinny:
Nebraska is coming off a bad week where they were able to at least will their way into one win. Despite not desperately needing this one, it's likely that Nebraska will treat this as a kitchen sink game; expect Berke to play 20+ minutes here. Perhaps Nebraska can figure out a way to lead at home at the first media timeout since the USC game a month ago. Despite a home loss to Michigan St on Friday, Michigan has been one of the best teams in the conference this season and will be a tough out.
The Wolverines play a rim or 3 style of basketball. Their 3pt make % has dropped to 33.4% in conference play though they more than make up for it getting to the line at the 2nd highest clip in conference play. May's squads have been spamming the offensive boards for the last couple of years so Nebraska will need to fight in order to not bleed second chance points. The Wolverines are turning it over more than anyone in conference so expect plenty of errant passes as Michigan attempts to work the ball around the paint.
The Wolverines play a tough man-to-man defense with an emphasis on holding the opponent to a low percentage shot as opposed to pressuring the ball. Michigan tends to play without foul trouble though if Nebraska can get the Wolverines in trouble the bench isn't very deep. You can find second chance points on the offensive boards against Michigan but Nebraska likely will sell out to cut off transition points.
Michigan is favored in this one as they're arguably the better team. Seems like Nebraska might be the hungrier team and the one with 5 days to prep for this game.
Prediction: Nebraska 75 - Michigan 71
