Not exactly unprecedented. Bobby Cremins lasted 3 days at South Carolina, and Billy Donovon lasted two days with the Orlando Magic. Both left to go back to their old jobs, however, not someplace else so that part may be without precedent. The burning question is how this computes in milliBurnos.

Bad move.

For Beard? Tech seems more his scene than UNLV ever did.

I'm just thinking it'll be more difficult to excel in the Big 12 at a place like Tech, especially with Tubby Smith's success being a somewhat hard act to follow, than it would have been to follow Dave Rice at UNLV.

He can certainly recruit big men. Remember those mammoth brothers he had for the Aggies? And New Mexico State will never be number one in the eyes of the fans who live in New Mexico. good move for him.Getting beaten by NMSU in the NCAA remains one of my biggest NU disappointments

While it should be easier to get high level guys to UNLV, the spotlight is a lot brighter there and their athletic department is a mess. Beard also plays a grinding style of basketball that unless he wins there immediately with a blown out roster, people are just going to hate him and he's probably fired in 3 years. The guy has nomadically coached all over in Texas except for when he spent 10 years as an assistant HC at Tech. With that sort of history and him being a "Tech" guy he should get a lot more rope than he would have ever had in Vegas.

It really shocked me that Beard was only going to be making 1 Million a year at UNLV.  I get that UNLV doesn't get much "football" money but that seems pretty low for a program that historically is pretty darn good.

Beard had a $1M buyout for a week's worth of work.

FWIW

So Miles will be making almost three times that amount... Fair to say Nebrasketball is a better job than UNLV based on $$$?

Considering the state of UNLV hoops at the moment (only 2 scholarship players on roster), I would say NU is much better.

So that means that Belein has to replace TWO members of his staff this offseason.

Man, that Michigan program is in total disarray!  Must be something wrong if the coach keeps running off his assistants, right?
