Does Connie have the team practice FTs? Good golly 8 of 22 is pathetic.

Been that way a year. Just a bad game for some of them

Would love the see the youngins work hard on them this off season.  Leaving far to many points out there.

First half was cringe worthy. But Nat calmed then down and took over.  Got lots of floor time for everyone the last couple of games. Will help morale through the off season. Esther has looked better and better with the late season experience.

It wasn't pretty today, but effective defense and offense to keep the game under control. Thanks to NW for a poor shooting day, and for our girls gutting it out and staying in the game with good fighting to the end.

Free throws....what free throws ??  From the floor we shot pretty well. It was the difference...we 50%...them about 38%. 3 PT: we 43%... them ...not so much

BTN says we will probably play Rutgers next Tues. probably. Rutger has improved as the season has gone on, so we'll have to grind  out another one.

Nice win for the Seniors.  Impressed by the grittiness displayed by the team and we were fortunate that NW shot bricks in the first half.  Offensive flow is still not there.  Even on TV you could hear Connie yelling directions to players in the half court sets about where they needed to be placed.  Jess S. was a turnover waiting to happen in the first half but settled down and improved.  Romeo's play was impressive and Maddie Simon showed some flashes of brilliance.  There is hope but Rutgers will be very tough on Defense and might not be a good match up.  Esther R. was more of a factor in the win than many might credit.  Defended well and the 3 was needed at the time.

afa....Rutgers: i think the huskers will have a decent shot on a neutral court. this coming from one who didn't think they could pull this one out-----then, hear RT's career is done....really thought they didn't have a shot.

i am rather surprised NW tanked as bad as they did. they still had some pretty darn good talent on the floor. maybe some of those close losses really took the rest of the starch out of the team sticking together.

a bit surprised we didn't see some woody?!? i thought she had pretty decent minutes the other game. i suppose with nat staying on the court, coach yori didn't want to go that small. only reason i can think of.

good golly...............................................free throws............or lack thereof. i can assure you that will be a topic discussed heavily before the team goes their separate ways for the summer.

wonder what % burns has been going on? 80-85%? thought she played really well. she didn't like that missed layup, though.   :D on defense, she seems to anticipate passes pretty doggone well. one of them to be excited for next season.

geez, what else can one say about nat? matt coatney seemed to hint for next season he likes the ball in her hands. agree with much of what he said, but, i still like her moving around on offense as we have been used to. i still believe next years pg is not in school yet. at times, when she drives into the "trees", she can have such a quick release for a layup it's tough for some to get a block on her shot. with that release, you would think it would be coming off the glass awful hard, but, yet it is soft off the glass------the majority of the time.

if maddie keeps improving over summer, she will be a force to be reckoned with next year. she already was today.

esther had a nice game, one of her best yet. i do still get a little nervous with her passing, though.

anya's jumper was rather off today, but, except for the fouls she had some good minutes.

whoa-----minnesota getting smoked 106-64 under 2:00.

anyway, senior anya (along with KC and RT) and the huskers should have minimum of 2 games left. at least 1 BTT and at least 1 NIT.

In her post game interview coach Yori noted that Maddie spends more time in the gym outside of practice then anybody on the team.  She said that when someone like that has a good game it's a reward for the extra work.

I like to hear this but I am confused. We just had a story that Nat spent the most time in the gym. Either way it is all good

We got a glimpse into the future this afternoon and I must say it looks pretty good. Will have to fine tune a few things like getting a handle on turnovers and free throw shooting, plus add in a couple talented newbies and we should be pretty good.  Wasn't sure what to expect especially with Rachel T not playing. This turned out to be one of our better rebounding games of the year.

Pretty good job by both Natalie and Jasmine defending the three point line. Natalie's all around game these past few games has been nothing but spectacular. The way she got everyone involved today especially with a defender or two hanging all over her for 40 minutes was really a thing of beauty.

Not sure there's another team in the Big Ten that has fallen so far as Northwestern has especially with the high expectations they had entering the season.

Confirmed that Nat got the triple double

Unbelievable game by Nat! I was just as interested her triple double numbers just as much as the game in the second half. Feel bad for Nat that the statistician couldn't give her that assist during the game as the whole crowd would have erupted with a thunderous ovation when she got that 10th rebound to complete the triple double! Every one around my section was watching and anticipating that triple double and a lot of them went balistic when they didn't credit her with the assist they missed giving her for Ramaceri's three pointer. A couple of her assists today though were some of the best the Huskers have dished out this whole season.

Romeo held it together in the first half.  She had that crossover juking the NW defender all game.  As one of the previous posters mentioned, it's a good thing NW couldn't shoot - they had some easy looks - probably should have been the team up by 10 at half.

IMO, the biggest cause of the consistent turnover problem is lazy passes.  They must not see any kind of aggressive defense in practice, because they seem to think they can throw the ball anywhere, anytime.

Nonetheless, great to close the regular season with a W against a team that hammered them earlier in the year.

I agree on the lazy pass aspect.  Part of the blame on some of them lies with the person for whom the passes were intended.  In those cases where they are facing the pass if they would move toward the passer I think some of them would have been caught or the defensive person called for a foul.

Good point - it's not always completely the passer's fault.
