That seems to be a good candidate for our Incarnate Word/Samford clunker.  I believe USD is adding a couple solid transfers so could be an interesting game if we dont come to play.  On the bright side...this is just another game that shouldnt be an RPI killer.  Me likey

I have to think we're looking at the Jays on Wednesday, Dec 7th between Dec 3rd South Dakota and Dec 10th at Kansas (both Saturdays). Probably Dec 14th if the Jays have a conflict with the 7th.

By my calculations, all the rest should be cupcakes though maybe you could see one more mid to higher tier "name" in there.

 

The only cupcake known is Southern right now.

Last year we had 31 games and with 3 tourney games again this year it should be the same.

Typically we have 2 road non-conference games...that will be Kansas and Clemson this year.

 

Currently we have

 

(18) conference games.

(6) "Big games" 3 tourney games + Clemson + Creighton + Kansas

(1) "Crap team" Southern.

Total - 25

 

That leaves us, not counting the tourney teams, 6 opponents to be announced. Most of these opponents will suck. Hopefully we have one more team up our sleeve or else the non-conference home slate is Creighton + tickets you might give away to your neighbors.

Southern RPI's the last 5 years- 197, 228, 176, 172, and 279 according to Warren Nolan.  So, while this "should" be and easy win, it shouldn't do too much damage to the RPI.  Add South Dakota and looks like Miles is scheduling with the NCAA Tournament in mind compared to last year where he scheduled 300+ RPI killers for wins.

So, the past two years, NU has had home and homes vs. NW, PSU, Purdue, Rutgers, Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maryland and Illinois. Presumably that means we'll see home and homes vs. MSU, Michigan and OSU. It will be interesting to see who the other two are.

 

Nebraska has played only once against MSU three straight years. There is no scenario that covers the schedule in a 14-team league from year-to-year. It literally is an ever-evolving year by year situation. No rhyme or reason, seemingly...

 

I'm not so sure about that. I don't think it's random scheduling. I think it's simply that they started over when they added Rutgers and Maryland.

 

 

Of course they started over. 14-team leagues are unwieldy. The 12-team scheduling was perfect, 14 not so much.

 

That doesn't mean there's not a pattern to how they're scheduling things.

Out of Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin we play 1 of them Home and Away. The other two teams we play home only.

Out of Maryland and Minnesota we play 1 of them Home and Away. The other team we play Away only.
