Norm Peterson Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 In the "overcoming kudzu" department ... I found this interesting. Indiana's Scout Correspondent, Justin Albers, says IU is interested in Dickerson but he thinks Washington is the team to beat. WTF? Washington? Just one more season away from firing their head coach? Who just lost a commitment from a 4-star PG (just "reopened" his recruiting)? And who just signed on for Auburn transfer Matt Atewe? Why the hell would Dickerson want to go there? I think kudzu can be overcome in this one. I really do. Quote

By the way, Indiana just did some spring Creening yesterday, so they suddenly have a few open scollies. Silverbacked1 1 Quote
hhcmatt Posted May 15, 2015 Author Report Posted May 15, 2015 WTF? Washington? 8/17/2014 - ESPN 100 PF Noah Dickerson has committed to the Florida Gators over finalists LSU, Washington, Georgia Tech and Georgetown, where he was previously committed. We very well might be silently recruiting him because there has been zero out other than hoping Dickerson has a better relationship with Burno than anyone else. However isn't the final signing day on May 20, 5 days from now? Is he going to sign here without visiting when there are plenty of other places he's visited? Doesn't seem like it's going to happen unless Dickerson moves to 2016 and we have another year to work on him. Quote

That is interesting. Quote

For instance, 5 star hoops recruit Tyler Dorsey has not signed a LOI with Oregon and will not do so. He will sign the papers when he goes to school in the fall. The top level guys can do that as teams will hold a spot for them no matter what. Dickerson doesn't have to sign anything within the next five days. hhcmatt 1 Quote
Norm Peterson Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 Dickerson can enroll without signing an LOI. Enrolling is actually more binding. If he shows up without an LOI and starts attending classes, he's ours. Quote

lanigan123 Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 I think we recruit him, but it is a tough hill to climb. We will try which is all we can really ask. Talk about best recruiting haul of all time, here. Quote
Timmy Posted May 15, 2015 Report Posted May 15, 2015 Lee B. asked him about kids he recruited to Florida: Speaking of recruiting, does Burno have ties to players who might come to Nebraska immediately? “No, I don’t,’’ he said, chuckling. “I know we’re trying to do some things creatively to get one more player. But the guys I recruited, I think they are all aligned with UF. I wish those guys nothing but the best.’’ Quote

"I think they are aligned with UF".....we all know that is not currently the case ( at least with Noah D for sure). So it seems you gotta read between the lines...pretty easily in this case. hhcmatt and Red Don 2 Quote

lang Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 If a player hasn't been released from his LOI, can you contact him directly? Isn't that why schools contact AAU/HS coaches in the first place? I guess it's really that simple ? Until the school releases him, no school can contact him. So the school simply contacts his AAU coach and tells him "Can you ask Noah if he'd have any interest in us?". AAU coach asks Noah and away we go. All clearly not against the rules or else all of those schools mentioned just broke the NCAA laws. In one simple step the clear intent of the rule ( to not tamper with or influence a player ) is sidestepped. I'm not missing anything am I....this is the reality that goes on all the time? Quote
lanigan123 Posted May 16, 2015 Report Posted May 16, 2015 Yes, until his release is complete you contact AAU/HS coaches. I think Nebraska will try, only thing you can do. Quote

Maybe he is saying he actually was not the lead recruiter for Dickerson? Possible that it was a simple mistake by whoever reported it. I can't remember who all has said that he was the primary for Noah. Seems like it would be easy to find that out ( news reports from signing day, Gator talk sites etc). Easy, but I ain't taking the time and potentially ruining all the suspense and intrigue Quote

But the guys I recruited, I think they are all aligned with UF. I wish those guys nothing but the best.’’ Seems that we need to take this comment at face value: (i) we aren't pursuing Noah Dickerson, and (ii) we've got something "creative" in the works to fill the last spot--there is nothing "creative" about pursuing Dickerson. And, according to the Rivals profile page for Dickerson, Burno is not Dickerson's lead recruiter. Quote
