I'm guessing that all this guessing is a waste of time. His tweeting "games" are almost as bad as Agau's. But I'll play the game... if it "changes everything" and Nebraska was his favorite, that doesn't bode well for us. If Nebraska was his favorite and he was waiting to qualify, that doesn't "change everything". It would just allow him to commit.

I think it's meaningless chatter. I would guess it means (to him) that more schools can go after him. Like someone else said, he's used up his visits (with one remaining). But if he did/does have a "dream school" that he's been waiting for an offer from and he gets it, I would guess that he doesn't need to take an official visit to choose them over the likes of Charlotte and us.

Fortunately I'm trusting in Miles and his staff, regardless of what this unproven prospect decides to do.

I think by "this changes everything" it meant he was scrambling to figure out what to do and was panicking, but now he doesn't have to have a backup plan anymore. At least I hope so. Everyone assumed we were sniffing around for another big man because we thought Atewe was going elsewhere. Maybe we were looking for another big man because our coaches didn't think he was going to become eligible?

Speaking of posting stupid crap, Atewe just retweeted a tweet from Reggie Rankin saying that Atewe is close to a decision.

Let me say that again.  Atewe just retweeted a tweet by Reggie Ranking saying that Atewe is close to a decision.

That's different from Atewe saying he's close to a decision.  Not sure how different, but it's different.

What is now public information, that was apparently a mystery before today, is this: Matthew Atewe had eligibility issues that are just now resolved in his favor. He is now eligible.

This seems to be very good news.

This is the first time we've seen anything approaching a reason that makes sense for the delays (and the appearance of indecision) that have produced 30 pages of angst and discussion on this board.

Other than his public statements that he wanted to take all five visits?  I still don't understand your reluctance to believe that he did, in fact, want to take all five visits.

This changes everything = I can actually go to a Division I college now

...or that the big boys might be willing to offer him now...

Robin said he hasnt been able to contact Atewe to find out exactly what his plans are with this recent news but said this should change everything going forward and could be wild few weeks and that he may possibly cancel his Nevada visit to see if new suitors come into play.

Tyron Lue stuck with the team that stuck with him.  He's in the Husker HOF now and has a couple of NBA rings.  Just sayin'.

So he's gonna see if any other schools come after him now that he's cleared the clearinghouse. OK I get that. I know he initially had a whole bunch of offers. KState, Marquette, Georgia Tech, a few others. My question today after we learned what we learned would be did he actually weed those schools out and say no to their offers or did those schools cool on him and back off once they learned he may be a question mark on being eligible?

Yeah, "this changes everything" is a little too emphatic if all you're talking about is "this means I'll now qualify at the schools I've already been looking at."   Sorry, but not holding my breath on this one.  Not that I have been ...   <_<

I find it hard to believe a high level bcs team is going to come after Atewe now that he is qualified. He has no offensive game and did not start on his high school team.

I hear ya.  Not sure whether to be more irritated or discouraged, though, because we got no other arrows in our quiver.

which is funny because he started for Team Canada and that team WOULD probably beat this years Nebraska squad with the talent on that team.

Andrew Wiggins #1 2013

Trey Lyles 5 star for 2014

Tyler Ennis #24 for 2013

Xavier Rathan Mayes #28 for 2013

and Atewe for the starting line-up for Team Canada.  Yikes!

With two 4*, a 3*, and two 2*'s coming off the bench.  By the way one of the 4* players was Atewe's back-up at center though he is a 2015 prospect so hes younger.

Agreed. And agreed with previous poster saying you don't "weed out" higher level schools for lower level schools. I thought k st was out because they signed other bugs. Let me sift through this 30 page thread....
