Since this is the start of the season naturally there were some games played this afternoon already. In somewhat of a surprise James Madison beat future NU opponent #23 UCLA  in overtime 91- 87.

Maryland played Mount St. Mary's this afternoon and clobbered them 109 - 45.

Penn St beat Towson 71-64.

IPFW or (Indiana/Purdue at Fort Wayne) leads Illinois at half time 32-26

C White from Shelby has 9 points.

Lots of B1G teams in action later on tonight.

Wow. Penn State loses at home to Albany this afternoon 54-53.

Duke beats Alabama 90 - 40.

North Carolina gives UCLA their second loss 84-68

Maryland thrashed Wagner 97 - 24

I watched part of the Duke/Ala. game on TV.....and Duke is the real deal. Very athletic overall...and had good height.

The freshman class is excellent....

...one of the guards is a very agile 6-4 or 6-5

Anybody watch UCONN blow it at the end of overtime.

Kind of what usually happens to teams that win too easly, completely imploded the last :45 seconds of overtime.

I thought it was fun to watch Gino have no answers for how to get his team to do anything right at the end. He actually had to coach, and did a poor job of it. At least in my humble opinion.:)

UCONN will still win the whole thing. Geno is the best coach in women's basketball!! I am glad they lost last night so they don't feel like they can win anything and everything on any given day without putting a better effort out there. Lots of newbies playing along side Stewart and Lewis.

Since the start of the season last week the Big Ten is 1-3 against teams from the power conferences. The lone win came late last night with the Huskers beating Pac-12 Washington St.

Power 5 (1-3)
11/14 - Virginia 87, Ohio State 82
11/19 - Notre Dame 71, Michigan State 63
11/19 - Georgia 67, Ohio State 59
11/19 - Nebraska 82, Washington State 61

Also, last night Purdue, who just cracked the top 25, went down to Wis/Green Bay 81-78 in OT

So how did Chatrice White end up doing?  9 points at half for a true freshman playing in the early part of the season signals good things no matter who the opponent is.

15 points, 13 rebounds last night.  Good start to a career.

Hoping that the new girls can play some quality minutes as the season goes on so we don't have the same situation as PSU. We will still have Theriot, Havers, and Romeo. I would like to think Kalenta will be playing more and hopefully Smith and Cincore as the season continues. Wish Esther could figure out her shot a bit better, she can be helpful, too.

Regarding Illinois, seems like they have a tendency to foul a lot. Hoping for a good reffing crew when we play.

Thug ball is what I call what Illinois plays.

Yes, they do.  If they are not called for a lot of fouls, the other team often loses in frustration.  This happened in Evanston (!) a few years ago, when Illinois muscled Northwestern out at home, but then a tighter crew called the game in Champaign and Northwestern won there.

Speaking of Northwestern, they knocked off #18 DePaul in double-overtime last night to improve to 5-0.

That's a good win for your Wildcats Noah! Must have been a pretty wild overtime with all the points that were scored! You going to be able to get to the "Vault" over Christmas vacation? Sure would be great to have your enthusiasm back for a little while!  :)

Speaking of Illinois they blew a 11 point lead last night against Oklahoma late in the game and got beat in OT 78-76.
