Who do you sit to start Benny? Cant sit Shavon, TP or Walt. Lose your defensive integrity if you sit Rivers- shields than has to guard the 4. You want to sit Tai? The kid FINALLY is playing with confidence

Couple things, re: Tai, as my high school band director was wont to say, "Congrats, you finally got it right. Now do it again and prove it wasn't a mistake."

Also, Rivers is the guy who would sit if Benny were to start, which he won't with the roster the way it is right now. I think the energy you'd gain would out weight the match-ups.  But a couple coaching friends I've talked to a bout this says you want Benny's energy coming off the bench, not in the starting lineup unless he's heads and shoulders more talented above the other guys, which he's not. 6th man is the right role, I believe, and I was one espousing for Benny to get starter consideration.

Well, aside from wanting energy coming off the bench, if you just went based on personnel, you could get away with sliding Benny into the starting lineup, moving Rivers to 6th man, and then shifting everyone one spot up from there.  Shields would arguably make a better 4 than Rivers; Petteway arguably a better wing than Shields.  The ultimate question is whether 1-Parker, 2-Webster and 4-Shields presents a better grouping of players than 1-Webster, 3-Shields, 4-Rivers.  Right now, Coach Miles seems to agree he'd rather start Rivers and have Benny coming off the bench.

I find it somewhat ironic that the conversation now is whether Benny should start when there were many folks on this board a couple of years ago who wondered why coach Tim kept such a small guard on the roster when it was obvious that he would never be able to play in the Big 10. Oh how fickle we fans can be!

Even coach Miles questioned whether Benny was cut out for this league and basically asked him to leave his first year.  Benny said no and proved himself worthy of playing time.  But if you are going to label fans as fickle in regards to Benny, then you will have to include Miles as being fickle himself.

Which speaks volumes about the drive and determination that Benny has.  Even towards the middle of last season people were questioning Benny's place on the roster, yet he persevered and has shown us all that he deserves his spot.

Because of that Benny has earned volumes of respect from all of us, and deservedly so.

I like that Parker kid!  :)

In the coaching ranks, I believe they view questioning a player's manhood as a way of challenging a kid to see how he responds.

Doc did the same thing to Ryan Anderson and Ryan wouldn't quit.  Standhardinger, on the other hand ...
