Word around the Topeka area is that Lanie Page committed to NU this weekend.  I am sure that should fire up the board and the big red nation.

Excellent; thanks for scoop Kansas! Should be a great next few years. Will be interesting to see how long this takes to get confirmed.

You had to wonder if something wasn't cooking when Rachel Blackburn committed.  She and Lanie play for Lanie's dad on a club team, according to what Rachel's dad posted.  Great news for the ladies!  Really looking forward to the 2015 class getting to campus.  They could be a part of something really special.

Row6, any chance you could put together a position-by-position breakdown of the incoming players for '14 and '15?

Thanks.

If this is true, which I hope it is, Connie and staff must be getting giddy.  I would think with the quality and quantity of players on the girl's team, that would limit or eliminate the need for the girls to practice with a boys team.

UCONN and Tennessee still use men to practice against on a regular basis.  These girls may be talented but lets not forget that the mens practice team, if allowed to play with no restrictions, would run the floor.  If they want to continue to stay at the top of the B1G they will keep the men around to make them better.

Hooray !!!!

Wow....Great to have the Page sisters and Rachel coming to NU !

I'm sure the boys will still be the practice team of choise......just adds a ton to practice for the girls in terms of speed and strength needed at the college level...both offensively and defensively.

Another great class coming in 2015. Will Yori take one or two more ?  Need another guard?

It kind of depends on what Yori see's as the need...and even the calibur of the prospect, no matter the position.

I believe that the use of men at practice is common practice for Yori, But I could be wrong.

Having a scout team that isn't going to play in a game is also huge. In college my first two years I was lucky enough to see some game time so I got to run some of our plays during practice.

But the other scout team guys never got to run anything we did, so if they got into a game, or when we played a JV game we really didn't know what to do. Sometimes we just ran the stuff we did as the scout team during the week because we knew what to do.

This is why sometimes garbage time in games are so bad, not because the players might be really bad but they really don't know what to do.

Dlrrk, it is an understatement to say that we are all extremely excited about these two terrific young women deciding to come to Nebraska and play for the big red. Congratulations to you and your daughter. We couldn't be happier to have her here.

Norm, you best be getting season tickets, before they are hard to get.... :)

Maddie Simon, Rachel Blackburn, & Lanie Page is a great class in itself.

Now add Jessica Shepard to that mix and what do you have? .........Two Nebraskans and two Kansans......And quite possibility our second top ten recruiting class in consecutive years!! Couldn't be more pleased with what we have coming in these next two years. The future of this program just took another big step into becoming a perennial top ten power.

Fathom this, in November of 2015 when reading your game program for the first exhibition game against UNK the Huskers will have a 6'5, four 6'3's, two 6'2's, and two 6-footers all decked out in scarlet and creme and most likely all contributing...........That's scaring the pants off Illinois coach Matt Bollant!

Wonder what it is like in Iowa City? Heavier drink than usual.

We are on a roll with recruiting.  However, I must temper our enthusiasm in the B1G as we must "fear the Turtle" and C. Vivian Stringer is still coaching at Rutgers.  Those two additions certainly add some strength to the conference.

Here is the short Prospect Nation write up on both Lanie & Rachel verballing NU.

Nebraska Scores A Pair

Jessica Shepard of Lincoln, Neb., might be the best kept secret in the country. The current No. 4 prospect in the class of 2015 ELITE 100 can do a bit of everything on the floor and on any given day even standout as possibly the best player in the class of 2015. Shepard, who is headed to Nebraska, just picked up a couple of teammates that will ensure she has enough help to assure the Cornhuskers will be major players on the national scene for years to come. No. 70 Rachel Blackburn of Easton, Kan., and No. 71 Lanie Page of Alma, Kan., both committed earlier this week.

Blackburn, the No. 16 ranked forward in the class of 2015, and Page, the No. 17 ranked forward in the class, will give Nebraska quality frontcourt depth and the ability to put three impactful offensive contributors on the floor at once, making them tough to match up with for opposing teams. In scoring both Blackburn and Page, Nebraska is making a play to put together one of the best recruiting classes in the country as they have a major chess piece in Sheppard and now two high level players in Page and Blackburn.
