One game.   There has got to be a way to win one game that nobody really expects you to win.  We keep hearing how tired the guys are, how injured Pettaway's back is.  Even so, the Indiana game has a bunch on the line.

What's it going to take?  What's gotta give?  How can we pull it off?

I have never been so jacked for a game in which I was going to miss some of it (Ash Wednesday).   Please, Huskers, find a way!

To win, we gotta shoot it better from outside (imo, 6+ 3's is a must) and we got to shoot more FT's than Indiana. If they get to the line a lot, we are in trouble. I think we have the athletes on the perimeter to contain Sheehy & Ferrel, although both are really good players.

I really think petteway is fine. Just because the guy stretched 2 extra minutes at halftime one time doesn't mean he all of a sudden is worn down and injured with a bad back. I wish people would quit saying this before the self fulfilling prophecy comes into play. He's fine. It's no different than anyone else banged up this time of year. Nobody is 100%

IMHO Indiana is a must win. If we lose they likely jump us in RPI.

Indiana has a RPI of 79. A win over us will neither jump them over us in the RPI nor jump us for a spot in the dance.

I agree that a win by IU will not jump them over us or a win by NU will not get us in either but a loss by NU will make it more difficult to get in.  We'd then need to beat Wisconsin and get 2 or 3 wins in Big 10 tournament.  A loss just keeps shrinking our margin of error.

Having been an athlete with chronic lower back problems I know from experience that complete rest is the only thing that really helps. There were fans at Indiana game who witnessed Petteway getting his back massaged and/or iced instead of warming up by shooting.

His back problems may clear up but the last several games it is a fact that his jumper is way off possibly due to back but not necessarily. I hope Petteway is healthy but if not, then Gallegos has to hit some threes or Hawkins or Shields or Pichford. We'll need six or more threes so we can drive.

I think it still is a must win game. IF you dont win this game, Wisconsin is a must win or you have to win the tournament. IMHO a loss Wednesday all but locks us up a NIT bid, while we wont be mathematically eliminated, it makes games that are harder than Indiana must win games. Looking at all the bracketology stuff, we really need some teams to start tanking. Specifically SEC teams. This year is a good learning experience that every game is important.

At this point to me, must win = If we don't win this the only way we can make the tournament is by winning the B1G tourney.

It is going to be easier to beat Indiana on the road than to beat Michigan St. again if we were to draw them.  I am not sure how, but we need to make some shots and hope they are not hot from the land of plenty.   Tall order for sure.  And it is probably a tall order because in reality we aren't a tourney team.  We have too many flaws.  But now that we are in this position with few games left, we certainly can make it.

Well I guess it boils down to the win total you think we need to get in. I prefer to look at most winnable games, we win today, we likely need only 1 to 2 more to be in. Also, it is a road win which is a bonus. I cant see us getting in to the tournament without winning tomorrow. If you cant beat Indiana, what makes you think we will beat Wisconsin, Purdue/PSU/NW and then play a top 4 big ten team?

I would agree with what Royalfan said. We arent a tourney team, atleast we didnt play like one the first half of the year. I think the biggest thing holding this team back is consistency. IF that develops we will be very dangerous. I also think we need to improve at the 4/5 and the 1. Now, if Ray gets hot, I think it changes things. Right now we really dont have an answer or an offense when teams pack the paint. The margin for error is just so small.

Lose to Indiana, but beat Wisconsin and win two in the big 10 tournament and we are in. But I'd much rather just win both this week plus one

Not necessarily.  That would put our final record at 20 - 13 with only 2 road wins this season.  Not sure that would automatically get us in.  It could but certainly isn't a given.

The winning 2 this week + 1 next week is NU's best chance for three top 100 victories w/ 2 of those being top 50 as well as incl. 1 tough road win against the Hoosiers, to boot. All this assumes the 11-7 conf record results in a 1st rd bye at BTT.

The Michigan St. win, to a certain extent, forgives our lack of road wins. There are plenty of teams who are firmly "in" despite lacking road wins. If we were to get to 20-13 while advancing to the conference semis, we would easily be in.

Thank you NULed. Petteway, in the last few days, has gone from 100%, to slightly strained back, to serious back injury, to back surgery. All from him stretching extra for two minutes during halftime.
