Use to love Dale Brown at LSU, and I can't believe no one has mentioned Jimmy V. Also loved Hueser at Kearney St. back when the were an NAIA powerhouse.

No Lynn Farrell on your like list Handy. Likes/Liked   Nee, Coach K, McGuire, Miles, Hartman.

Dislikes/ed all of the coaches that beat Nebraska but mostly Stewart, Sutton always looked like he was gonna cry. Motta A Norm Stewart look alike. And that guy that liked to throw chairs.

Are you old enough to remember coach Holiday at Aurora? He was quite a character, and had a solid program for many years.

Yes, he's a great man!  By the way, he and his family are back living in Aurora.

Wasn't coach Holiday the one that was on the front page helping the kid from, I want to say Holridge, that missed the lay up at the buzz to lose the title?

The front of the picture was a player hugging a cheerleader and in the back ground coach checking on the kid who missed as he lay on the ground.

Yes, that's right Silver. Coach Holliday is an inspirational person for many, many people to this day.

If I recall correctly, Coach Holliday nearly lost his life when he fell from a deer stand.  Perhaps I am totally off base...here is a blurb about him via the Nebraska HOF:

1994 Hall of Fame Inductee: Bill Holliday
Wilsonville

Athlete--In 1960 at Wilsonville High School, this lanky high school athlete completed the highest scoring record in Nebraska high school history in the sport of basketball. He scored a total of 2,748 points and was picked as an all-state player three years running. He was all-state for three straight years. He was the state's leading scorer in 1959 (890).  He averaged 27.9 points per game his senior year, 31.8 as a junior, 33.4 as a sophomore.  Wilsonville played in two state tournaments in his time. His enthusiasm for and talent in athletics continued thereafter, leading Aurora High School to the 1976 State Championship as their basketball coach. He also mastered volleyball officiating, becoming the best in the state for a period of time and was chosen many times to work the state tournament.

You are not offbase at all, CWG.  Mr. Holliday did fall from a deer stand and was severely injured.  It was  in the days before cell phones, and he had to lay on the ground for hours before he was found.  Went back to coaching after that.
